Helen Keller stars in the 1954 documentary about her life. Anne Sullivan and Polly Thomson also make appearances. Narrated by Katharine Cornell, Produced by Nancy Hamilton. Enjoy!

why does helen look older than anne😭

Because she IS. The Anne in this video is a part-time helper..as the narrator in this video mentions. Helen's teacher, Anne Sullivan, died in 1936. This film was made in 1954. After Anne died, Polly Thomson, the other woman at the beginning of the video took Anne Sullivan's place. She had known Helen and Anne Sullivan since 1914. Thanks for your interest. I hope things are going well for you. Best Wishes! 🦋🌷🥀🦋

Striking! I thought I knew the story of this remarkable woman; I sure did not realize the depths of her exceptional life! From conquering communication, to schooling, to collage, to Hollywood?! Wow! She did, indeed, conquer the world, much less her disability! What made this even more stunning was hearing her in her own voice! it pierces the soul! If one is feeling a case of the Mondays, or doesn't want to get out to bed, watch THIS! I am very much looking forward to part 2!

Polly Thomson is an angel in human form. She showed hope when this poor woman would have been kept in an institution without communication for her whole life. She showed the world people with disabilities are still capable of learning. And helped others along the way. It was so exciting to hear Helen Keller in an actual film.👼

What an inspiration! Wow. I'm legally blind and have been since birth. I'm now 49. Life certainly has its challenges for me, as it does for us all of course, but to learn about how Helen overcame such obstacles that she faced, is just amazing. I do wonder what was going through her young mind as a 6 year-old that couldn't see or hear the world around her. How did thoughts process in her mind as she didn't yet know language? It must have been awfully frightening for her. Poor child. Anyhow, thank you for uploading this.
@timgalaviz13227 ай бұрын
Read her autobiography. I just bought it. I was surprised how normal she seemed as a child. She knew how to get around the house and outside. She would play pranks and lock people in rooms, after she found out how keys worked. I guess after years of being blind and deaf she got used to it enough to be able to navigate. It’s a good read dude. Check the book out.

Anne was amazing. Just think how Helen's life would have turned out if she hadn't taught Helen everything. I wouldn't doubt Helen would have been put in an institution and shoved aside which happened to many in those times. And sadly those were the times back then. Thank goodness that didn't happen with Helen and thank goodness times have changed. We still need more changes for the disabled though. But we are getting there.

If we do not care of each other after watching this, the we're doomed. And rightly so. Much love - for now - Helen. I'll sent more on the next episode. ~P. xo

wait why does she have a British accent if she was born in Alabama?
@bradyryan51052 жыл бұрын
she couldn't hear herself talking.
@dawnmidnightsun2521 Жыл бұрын
She was taught language by an Irish woman. She used her fingers on Ms. Sullivan's lips and in her mouth to learn how to speak. Since accent is purely based on how your tongue and lips move, whoever taught her how to move her mouth would have more effect on how she speaks than anything else. Plus, she over enunciates due to not being able to hear her own voice. Which is often confused for a British accent by most US citizens.
