[pt. 2] Travelling Solo Across Australia In A Lifted Subaru Forester XT S-edition Melbourne to Perth

Part 2 of 2 Crossing the Nullarbor.
In this video I make the big trip across the Nullarbor Plain in Australia from Melbourne to Eucla and then on to Perth, along the way I stop off at a few places to see some of the attractions on offer.
2012 Forester XT S-Edition has the following mods:
-2 inch lift kit from Subieliftoz
-Rear HD King springs with S-Edition shocks
-BFG Ko2 Tyres (225/70r16) on Toyota 86 wheels
-Process West intake
-Process West top mount
-Larger fuel pump
-Turbo back exhaust
-vf52 turbo (factory fitted to this particular spec Forester)
-Dyno tuned to suit listed mods

Awesome mate!, I did Perth to Melbourne 4 years ago in a Rav4 SX6, now i have a S-Edition as a daily and would love to do the same trip in it one day. Crossing the Nullabor was amazing, something i will never forget.

Always good to have a spare the cvs are under lots of pressure in the lifted subies, another great video 👌

Yeah I've always carried a spare front because they are under more pressure being on a bigger angle, the rears are not as bad on the SH forester because you need a subframe drop with a lift so they actually stay close to stock angle but nice to have both front and rear spare just in case 👍🏻

Thanks mate, lots of room for improvement with filming and editing but it's a bit of fun anyway. Yeah man driving on the beach and sand in general is wicked fun! As I grew up in Victoria I never got to do that, so any chance I get now I do it 😁 🚙 💨

Yeah Australia is pretty amazing, and I still have so much of it to explore and see! From what I've seen you have some beautiful places to explore yourself👌🏻 I was lucky with the timing and my location... It all worked out well in the end with cv and now I have a spare 👍🏻

8:16 is the Norseman to Hyden road, it is quicker and shorter but if you breakdown there is not much traffic that goes through there so you could be stuck.

Yep spot on, I've done it 3 times and each time I've only passed a couple of cars... I believe it used to be an option for heavy vehicles that were over the weight limits for the main road but I think that has now been upgraded so there is probably even less traffic there these days...

Thanks mate, it's a decent treck to make but I enjoyed it! The dirt section is the Hyden-Norseman Road 👍🏻

Love the car man! I'm out here in New Mexico, USA and its just what I need! You've mentioned what kind of wheels are on your Forester but, I can't seem to find them anywhere! Please help a brother out..

Thanks man, I don't know that you guys get these particular wheels over there... They are the stock Toyota 86 wheels in Australia and Japan not sure where else. www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=54840 That's a link to a listing for them... I'm sure you could get some imported but it would probably be very expensive shipping! Over here you can pick up a full set for a couple of hundred bucks 👍🏻

What kind of fuel economy were you getting? I just got an SJ XT and it’s shocking 😂 keen for the adventures though

Hey mate, sorry for the super late reply! I talked about the fuel consumption in part one of these videos but on this trip I was getting around 13-13.5 litres per 100kms. I bet you're getting better than that in your SJ on the open road👍🏻

What size are the rims and tyres in this video? and what size are the new rims Method and tyres?

Hey mate, I've actually listed those things in the video description but these were 16s with a 225/70r16 tyre and now I'm running 15s with the Methods and a 235/75r15👍🏻

@@MontyScott Sorry I missed it. A 15" rim fits over the bigger slotted sti brakes?

All good, yeah not all 15s will fit only certain 15s with high clearance and lower offset like these Methods. These aren't STI brakes, just standard size rotors but upgraded to a better spec and slotted 👍🏻

@@MontyScott I dont mean the rotors the calipers are the ones that stick out that are not standard forester ones becasue you have the S model and a turbo car they are bigger.

Ah yeah no worries, they are a bit bigger than the NA Foresters but the S-edition just got the same brakes as the regular XT unfortunately no STI brakes. Cheers
