Part 3 of the BBK upgrade for the Audi TT Mk2
It's getting to the pointy end of the epic big brake upgrade with one of the more difficult jobs to do due to VERY restricted access on a RHD vehicle - changing or upgrading the master cylinder. The video is specific for RHD which is VERY different to LHD vehicle method.
Printed instructions for LHD vehicle can be found here - www.ttforum.co.uk/forum/viewt...
I've gone from the 23mm (8J2 611 021 C) and upgraded to the 25mm (8J1 611 021 E/D). You can see the differences in how to tell them apart in the video.
1J0611243 - for the master to brake booster o-ring.
Dot4 spec brake fluid is recommended.
PN for LHD (i'm in a RHD country) here:
audi.7zap.com/en/rdw/audi+tt+...
Finally the elusive VCDS brake bleed procedure is outlined without any edits (yes i F'd it up at one stage) so you can see exactly what needs to be done.
Make sure you watch till the end for some brake and engine porn!

It’s best not to reuse the break fluid, it only takes a little bit of grit in the fluid to knacker your master cylinder. I used a one man bleed kit that used air pressure from the spare tyre and I didn’t realise the spare had rust in it. This got caught In the seals and I load breaks completely. Foot to the floor at 60mph down a country road when I needed to slow down rapidly. Talk about brown underwear. When we swapped out the master cylinders we found the scoring. The brakes are the things that stop you hitting something and it’s just not worth the penny pinching so just buy plenty of fluid and throw away what you have drained. Thanks for the video though much appreciated you putting in the time to go through it. Going to do this with my mk4 R32 as the garage seems to struggle getting air out.

Thanks David. I definitely will not reuse brake fluid moving forward. Good luck fixing the r32's system. This would definitely be the most foolproof way if all others have failed.

@ianpgonzaga

There’s no specific setting for the rear but you can just go into the same option but instead of opening and closing the front you do the rear. It’ll push out the fluid 👍🏽

Great stuff Ian! Thank you for the continuous high quality video. I have a 6 pot 17z installed on my R36, which I believe was off from a 12 Porsche Cayenne. Great job, but after putting the "Audi Sport" sticker on the brake calipers you had to apply at least two coats of clear coat for protection. Ottimo lavoro, ma dopo aver messo l'adesivo "Audi Sport" sulle pinze freno dovevi passare almeno due mani di vernice trasparente per protezione.

@@petegraver8322 all TTS should have the upgraded 25mm MC regardless of the engine. They (TTS and 3.2 and TTRS) all have larger brake setups so regardless of engine should all have upraded MC. If in doubt get a pic that clearly shows the "25" on the body. You can see that in my video (i think)

great question - in RHD they have the same size - tandem brake booster. the 3.2 is different by having a vacuum sensor in it. the 2.0 FWD did not have this sensor. In LHD they are different between AWD and FWD vehicles. Don't ask me why though... lol that's an ask Audi question 😜
