Marvellous presentation of Raag Puriya often referred to as king of night Raags by late Bhimsenji displays igreat tribute to his perfection as dedicated vocalist. We are extremely thankful to Mr. Raju Asokan for making it available to the classical music audience around the world. Salute to late Panditji!!

A master of Puriya and Puriya Dhanashree. The way he lands in the note dhaivat is thrilling every time one hears it. What an intellect. In Carnatic music we had Madurai Mani Iyer and in Hindustani Khayal singing there was Pt Bhimsen Joshi. Nobody like them before and "nothing" after them. Wonderful post.

In the bandish he is landing on the Som on the note Tivra Madhyam and not on dhaivat. Tivra Madhyam is a characteristic note of this raga, if he landed on the note dhaivat, it wud have sounded like raga Marwa.

Kyaa baat . Great Pt. Jee could evolve it in so many ways with little nuances of the bandishes. For his shishya Pt.Madhav Gudi it must be a challenge and an eclectic experience to accompany.
