Man I have been watching through your videos and you are SUCH a good mechanic. Cleaning as you go, reminding people to torque to specs, the tip about filling the oil filter... it's clear you care! And that engine bay is SO clean, oh my gosh! I'm only 19, so I have a ways to go, but I hope I can be a mechanic like you one day. Hope you're staying safe in these troubling times.

13mm socket. 20 ft lbs torque if you use a torque wrench. 5qts. 5w-30 oil. For a Fram filter use PH3600 or there are other levels with letters HM3600 XG3600. Its about 1 to 1-1/2" longer then filter of 2.4L Caravan engines (same fit but larger oil capacity). Use jack stand/s, don't work under your car without jack stand/s or on ramps. Actually if you've taken your car to one of the quick change oil change places and they over-tightened the plug (the reason why I stay away from the places now) they might of next visit stripped the plug bolt head and luckily finally getting the plug out with a special crimping bold extractor they may have then replaced the drain plug with one that gives a larger bolt head size. So original plug being small at 13mm, they have replacements that make the head larger to 16mm. Also if the pan threads have been stripped out there are like first oversize, second oversice etc that are self tapping that also have a larger head to 16mm or 11/16". And best to use the type of socket (or wrench) called 6 point socket or box end wrench that grabs all the sides of the bolt at once instead of just the bolt head edge tips.

Fun fact: the owner's manual states that 5W-20 should be used, but the oil fill cap (and 99% of the internet) states 5W-30. Use 5W-30.

I would recommend using auto ramps. Also block your rear tires apply emergency brake be safe. Also I remove the oil cap in the engine compartment it helps oil drain faster. Park auto on a level spot. Keep rags close by put a tarp underneath the oil pan. Hope this helps

Thanks for the video. Is the pt turbo oil filter longer than the non turbo filter. I just baught a pt cruiser limited and it's got a turbo. And it has a short oil filter on it. Ive gotten 2 oil filters listed for turbo pt cruisers and there like mabe 1.5 inches longer than the short filter that's on the car currently. It looks to be a tight fit with the long filter and the OE oil cooler in there.. Thanks for all your other PT videos. They've been much help and I apreachate the tq specs in them also.

Still subscribed. I have seen how some people simply drill a hole in the bottom of the oil filter and letting the oil drain out through the oil filter. Wouldn't this work with the PT Cruiser or would it be needed to also remove the drain plug to get the rest of the oil? Thanks for the content. Keep up the good work. בס'ד

I know this is an old thread, but my PT Cruiser has 2 other plugs in the oil pan on the passenger side of the pan. One is perpendicular to the other. It's an '05. One of them is leaking. Do you know what these are for and what kind of bit do I need to tighten them?
