Nayanji got to spend a lot of time with Thirakwa Khan sahab. It reflects from his playing.He probably is the best exponent of laggis in currant time.

Once, Thirakwa khan sahab and Abul Miya were accompanying Gauhar Jaan Ji in a program, The healthy battle between these two tabla players was so energetic! Two of them were playing there best laggis one after the other.. Abul Miya was not a trained tabla player yet he left Thirakwa khan sahab to think what to play next so that he can't beat me.. Then Thirakwa Khan sahab played the laggi of "Dhir Dhir" Which is actually a phrase of classical tabla but not laggi(Semi classical).. After hearing the "Dhir Dhir' Laggi, Abul Miya Stopped playing anymore laggis.. As a sign respect towards the absolute mastery of Ustad Ahmed Jaan Thirakwa 🙏❣

Great! But Ishan's tabla (baya) was of less quality, so sounding very harsh as compared to Nayan ji. Also he was bit rushing. Nayan ji, whenever you are playing together, pl make sure both tabla sets are of same mfg quality. Really enjoyed some chromatic notes played by Ajay ji.
