If those chipping were spread over a crop field , would the ground benefit from it eventually??

Yes, they would eventually break down into black dirt, usually in 2 to 3 years depending on how thick the layer is.

Why is this wood being chipped as opposed to some other form of processing? I assume it would be worth more as lumber instead of wood chips?

Likely for cogeneration of electricity and heat. Ash can be spread back to the woods or fields.

This technic can be used while cutting trees for 4ways track.Further the whole wooden chips can be used for making ply wood.

Matt Eckert it’s probably for a wood chip boiler or furnace for a steam generator. I’ve seen a few videos from European countries doing this.

Это смотря для каких целей ты её использовать будешь. Для изготовления ДСП, или иных плит м наполнителем, очень даже ничего, но объёмы нужны конкретные.

You can turn these chips back into solid material for furniture making. It's lighter, more uniform and cheaper, some prefer it especially in sofa manufacturing.
