I'm no fan of Blue Blood programs but if fans are paying a premium price and the coach is getting premium pay, it's not a "spoiled brat" mentality to expect a premium output. You don't have to win a national championship every year or even make the Final Four every other year. But you can't be the highest or second highest paid coach for a decade and have not made a single Final Four in that decade. They haven't even made a Sweet Sixteen since 2019. They've only made it past the first round ONCE since 2019. At some point you are paying a coach for what he did in the past and not what he is doing for you currently and it's time to move on. He saved Kentucky a HUGE buyout. Now they can offer a coach with a better track record (recently), twice what they are making now and afford whatever buyout without blinking an eye. Kentucky players hitting the portal without even talking to whoever Kentucky hires next are just hoping to get a bigger payday (NIL) and don't care about winning.

Coach Staley just gets it, unlike most in the men's and women's college game today. BB IQ, heart, passion, discipline, relationship-building, moment by moment coaching...she proves again and again she is elite. And her emotional IQ, as Wilbon noted, is topnotch amongst her colleagues.

One of those “brats” here. If Cal was on a team of coaches he’d be on the bench Or transfer with the last five yrs of results Which he did. Maybe he and the commentator here could both work on showing some class. Cal for not being a stand up person who would look a camera in the eye and proclaim what he’s going to do instead of leaking it. And a professional reporter reduced to insulting a fan base.

Cal is actually better. His guys go on to the NBA and become All-Stars. The majority of Rivers’ players haven’t gone on to do great things after they left him.

Wilbon you have no bleeping clue. Any coach that has had the record in the past five years of Cal, while having some of the most talented players while also being paid near or at the top of his profession should not get a pass, but yet the media always gives it to him. Why are UK fans spoiled? Because we expect a team with that much talent and resources to not lose three straight home games which hasn’t happened in decades? Or lose first round games to double digit seeds twice in three years? I could go on and on, most have already gone thru the numbers here. It’s not spoiled, it’s reality.

Bingo! Hiring Calipari is like making a deal with the devil, bring him in to win, but know vacated wins and sanctions are in your future! Cheated for years using his aau contacts to do his dirty work and would leave programs in tatters. Now, with the NIL, everyone can play the game he did on the down low for years, and just coincidentally, he can't win anymore!

Cal left a real deal contender with uk for a 2 d college all because he doesnt wanna change his recruiting he still is going to draft 1 and dones and that hadnt worked out in 10 years he needs to draft at least 2 and 3 year recruits so they can build and gel and mesh together that 1 and done stuff is over 😂
