Here’s a new thing I love about Pentatonix that I just noticed in this song and marvel at. They are masters at laying back on the beat, and this song is like a master class in doing that. They are so in the pocket of this song, and it’s one of the aspects of this version that takes the piece to a whole other level. They are so good! Rhythm is the most important component in contemporary music and we talk so much (as we should) about their sensational vocals and arrangements including Kevin’s genius beat-boxing, but not so much about each singer’s mastery of rhythm and beat. This is NOT a given! Having directed various choirs and singing groups over the years, this has always been the biggest stumbling block to perfecting a song. People can have great voices and still struggle with rhythm. It’s the weirdest thing. So, the fact that they have so much finesse rhythmically is just another feather in their cap. They’re the bes

I love Pentatonix!!!!! I’ve been following them since the Sing-Off. I just knew that they would skyrocketed to fame and stardom because they can actually sing. Mitch has that beautiful high tenor. Kirstin has that glorious mezzo-soprano. Scott has that soulful baritone. Kevin keeps the beat going, but he also can sing,and has a nice tenor voice. Avi had that booming bass, and now Matt has the booming bass. They’re just a great group. They give me hope in this music industry.

I've been seeing a lot of hate lately in the comment now, and I just arrived back to ptx after a brief break. Why so much complaining? Why so much hate on each individual person? Where are all those ptx supporters at?! I mean they're awesome, and let's just enjoy the music they worked so hard for. It's been so long since they produced a song, but we should be supporting them all the way through. Sure, if one of them (some of you say the beatboxing and the bass) drops out, the music would sound dull and empty, but think... That's why they're all together as a team, and they need us, supporters, to fill in that gap. Every person in ptx is unique and talented in their own way, and together they produce unbelievable music.

I don't understand why people have a problem when Pentatonix layers/distorts their voices a bit in studio versions just because they're a cappella... other singers do it all the time and no one says anything- it's actually pretty normal. What matters most to me is if they can still perform it, and PTX has proven time and time again that Can't Sleep Love (along with all their other songs) sounds absolutely STUNNING live.

+Carmen Leong I used to think a lot of Kevin's stuff was edited until I saw him live. He really can make multiple sounds at once. He can beatbox and rap at the same time. The man is a machine and what he does is very impressive!
