I don't think it's cgi because if you look at the details you'll notice that he/she (I don't know the creator's gender) uses his/her fingers to close, open or move the puppet's eyes

I agree. Adorable. Consider the amount of time these take. They are essentially little animations done in layers and finger controlled. Hi quality art. I wonder how many takes it took to get each video sequence just right. Impractical - you can't sell it, really, but really enjoyable.
