+Jan Talamantes I remember listening to this song! Hearing the top 10 songs throughout the year... And listening to blurry my Puddle of Mudd... And thinking this is the end of the progressive grunge era! After that Korn, Nine Inch Nails, Muse, Stereophonics, Cage the Elephant, Deaftones, Linkin Park, Has pretty much control the rock industry! With pretty decent music!

My kids were 4 and 5 when this was released. I remember thinking I could never take them away from their father. We went through some shit, but we stuck it out for them, and now we’re married 27 years and still happy. Both of them are grown, educated, well-adjusted, great human beings. I partially credit this song for helping me understand what a mistake it would’ve been to split my family up.

I remember being 5-7 years old and telling my dad this was “our song” without ever knowing the true meaning behind the lyrics. It just felt right. After seeing the video year’s later it was like a direct blueprint of my younger years. Just wanting to see my father on the weekends to avoid the abuse from my stepfather. He passed away last year November 7th. I play this song a lot since even though it’s difficult. I’m glad I got to spend 24 years with him but it still just didn’t feel long enough. Love you paps. And I can’t wait to see you again some day.

Justus, I am so moved by your message. As a dad of a son who I raised alone all his life, and then when he turned 18 got involved in drugs. I never left his side in hospitals and each time he would order me out. We had patched things up at one point because I was going to be a granddad. But, before my granddaughter was born, he blocked me from calling or coming around. We havent spoken now in 6 years. Thjs song was one of "our" songs that we played over and over. I am sorry for your loss of your dad/buddy. I hate that you had to endure the pain of losing him and the abuse at home. Hopefully, you can find peace.

This music defines a moment in time, for me, where I finally thought "I have arrived", you know, (everyone on here giving up their deep thoughts), and I am a drummer so I played these songs and that gave me a connection that goes way beyond listening to lyrics. Everything these guys played was from the heart and they all played them OUT. Left blood on the studio floors. I wish to be part of something that real one day and I have had so many opportunities most of you would have KILLED for. I gave them ALL up because I couldn't reach that high. I knew what was going on in my head couldn't get that much angst to drive that engine, all while my career took first and foremost. Took away that pain, or at least distracted me enough that I would be so tired at the end of the day that would only practise for 1 hour. Gave the neighbors a short reprieve, until the weekend at least... lol. My poor neighbors. My poor mother had no choice but to listen because I was only down 1 flight of stairs. And she took it all in and loved every bit of it. Thanks Mom. You are the BEST Mom on the planet and that is a pretty pedestal...

Can you take it all away? Well, you shoved it in my face This pain you gave to me Can you take it all away? Can you take it all away? Well, you shoved it in my face Everyone is changing There's no one left that's real So make up your own ending And let me know just how you feel 'Cause I am lost without you I cannot live at all My whole world surrounds you I stumble, then I crawl You could be my someone You could be my scene You know that I will save you From all of the unclean I wonder what you're doing I wonder where you are There's oceans in between us But that's not very far Can you take it all away Can you take it all away Well, you shoved it in my face This pain you gave to me Can you take it all away Can you take it all away Well, you shoved it in my face This pain you gave to me Oh Nobody told me what you thought Nobody told me what to say Everyone showed you where to turn Told you when to run away Nobody told you where to hide Nobody told you what to say Everyone showed you where to turn Showed you when to run away Can you take it all away? Damn right boys! Hang tough for your kids. It's not their fault that two adults could not get along. My x left with my son when he was 2. No cheating on my part or anything like that. About fucking killed me. Ripped my heart out. However, I promised God and myself I would be a father and spend as much time as I could with him. Fast forward 24 years. We are as tight as possible and often speak of many childhood memories he had. You know, catching his first fish, learning to ride a bike, and every other precious memory you can think of. It sucks BUT despite being apart you can still be a great father. In fact today he mentioned going to baseball games together when he was young. NO I am not the answer or the greatest father in the world. I am only trying to encourage you guys who miss your children. Just love them and be there for them my friends. You can make it through!

I never knew the original story behind the song So for me this song has a very very different meaning than it does for most people. This song came out not long after my mother choose to leave me and my brother and abandon us she was not a good mother to me and was quite abusive this song for me represented shoving all of that in my face as she walked out the door forever. I still cry to this day when I hear this song bec it brings so many memories and feeling from that time in my life ,I was so hurt and lost at this point in my life I thought about suicide everyday. All I ever wanted was a good mom that loved me and cared about me.

find a reason to live. your mother does not deserve your longing. you're way better off chanelling all your love to someone who deserves it- yourself! talk to someone if you ever think of suicide. life is precious. it's sometimes hard and unfair, but think of it as a hurdle you can surpass. you can do it!

No mom is better than a horrible mom. I’m sorry this happened to you, as a mom myself I could never imagine being in any situation where I could ever ever abandon my children. Even now when I go to the store or do errands and my young daughter asks me if I’m coming back I tell her the only way mommy doesn’t come back is if she’s dead. I need my children to know that mommy will never ever leave them ever.

💔😭 I miss my dad so much, I’m glad we got through a major league fallout between the 2 of us, but… I hate being so far away from him, always did from even back when I lived in south California, while he lived back in the hometown in north California that I grew up in till the start of high school, I was lucky we moved back during the start of my sophomore high school year… But… Now I’m all the way in north-east Mississippi… While he still lives in the Northern California region… Ever since I was a kid, this song never ceased to make me think of my dad, and that first time I was living away from him… It hit like a truck, this song was never easy to listen to cause of it… Now… It’s even worse, because we may have got through the fallout, but… Being THIS far away from him now… It hurts so bad it isn’t even funny… I wish I could at least see him during my birthday on the 9th of this month… 💔

I used to cry and sing this song at the same time.....thinking that my daughter would never love me because of the corrupted thoughts her father bred into her. After YEARS, she came around and we have corrected the wrongs. For all of the single parents out there......LOVE will get you through the hard times. I never thought it was possible, but it happened. BELIEVE in LOVE.

Going through my custody battle, was absolute hell. Knowing that Wes was trying to inrove relationships with his sons mom means more than people realize. This song perfectly describes everything I feel for my son. When he is with his mom, I find my self walking around the house for no reason cause I do that when my son is with me. I miss him every day hes nt with me. For all the dads going through custody battles, DONT GIVE UP!!! I, a 24 year old single father, won full custody of my son. Dont give up, cause you have little eyes on you at ALL times!!

I have failed as a son, I have failed as a brother, I have failed as a friend, I have even failed as a boyfriend, I have disappointed everyone I am a disaster as a person. But if I had a son, I would give everything for Him. It would be my priority in life, protect him from all the shit in this fucking world, my parents have always hated each other to death since I was 1-2 years old I have no memories of them together and also both have always cared about their own interests (respective couples and their own well-being) they never thought if their actions could harm me in any way. I practically do not know my parents, I just feel contempt and indifference towards them ... even hate. so please if you have children and you separate from your partner (with time it is inevitable) do not put the children in the middle of the war with your ex, give him the best possible childhood, always look for his happiness and well-being, protect them from everything that I can hurt them ... that that boy or girl as an adult can proudly say he is my father.

Fuck having kids bro. Obviously we need reproduction but let someone else bear the burden. I know 0 couples that haven't fucked up their kids to some degree. I can at least say mine are trying but god if they aren't failing. Just keep trying for a girl until you succeed or it becomes not worth it. And get a dog. Dogs are good.

Everything's so blurry and everyone's so fake And everybody's empty and everything is so messed up Pre-occupied without you I cannot live at all My whole world surrounds you I stumble then I crawl You could be my someone you could be my scene You know that I'll protect you from all of the obscene I wonder what you're doing imagine where you are There's oceans in between us but that's not very far Can you take it all away Can you take it all away Well you shoved it in my face This pain you gave to me Can you take it all away Can you take it all away Well you shoved it my face Everyone is changing there's no one left that's real To make up your own ending and let me know just how you feel 'Cause I am lost without you I cannot live at all My whole world…
