Just found your channel.. absolutely magnificent video. I really love that you're revisiting and reviewing older games, for which existing reviews seem relatively outdated at this point. Your brief overview as well as pro's and con's are really well structured, cohesive and provide a good framework for a purchase decision! Have my sub!

@@BoardGameBollocks Absolutely! I was going to say Concordia or Orleans, but then had a quick skim through your videos and voilá! What I couldn't find however, was War of the Ring, a game which just recently received a reprint and I've been eyeing for a while. Would love to hear your opinion on that one.

Just picked it up actually. Playing it in October via livestream with a review shortly after. Keep a look out 👍🏻

FFS people that complain that this game is about slavery and colonizing need to grow up. Its one of the best games every developed. I'm still playing it 20 years later and I have yet to own a slave.

Isn’t Rex a re-thememiing of Dune?
@raziel22734 жыл бұрын
@@BoardGameBollocks Kinda of yes but it has its own elements for sure.As for The Lord of the Ice Garden i know it's a hard to find game but maybe you have tried it.Many call it Chaos in the old World on steroids!!

So I’ve been told by furious BGG users 🤣...had no idea. But that’s one of the problems fixed I guess ✊🏻

@@BoardGameBollocks New art is by any means better; with a new artwork this game would be still a real gem for all users. I bought it a while ago for some ridiculous low price but the box and components were so offputting I decided not to give it a go anytime soon. I tried it yesterday and... it's a masterpiece!

It is indeed a great game.

Just bought this game (first edition) but could not play it yet. I am really looking forward to it

It’s quality. Maybe pick up the mini expansion with the extra purple buildings to give it a bit more options. In fact you could just print them out from a scan.

A slave ship where the "slaves" get to go to university and occupy government buildings, offices and market services? I didn't realize Puerto Rico was so progressive in the 18th century. If ever there was a time and place to be a slave that was it. The career opportunities sound great. Or... maybe the brown circles don't actually represent slaves and are just wooden bits to be put on cardboard bits in order to make more wooden bits. I mean, here I thought I was playing an abstract game with no theme at all and suddenly find myself in the midst of a human rights nightmare. Like, on the one hand I love the game, but on the other I really REALLY don't approve of slavery. So what do I do? I feel so trapped by such a lively and immersive theme.

I was waiting for someone to bring this up…surprised it took this long considering the ‘debate’ on the nasty little website.
