For the crane game clip at 4:20 ish, it's not actually the collision at the top often that causes it to drop, it's usually an internal algorithm that determines it. A lot of crane games have the ability to program how much the prize costs on average, and how much one "Play" (money in, swipe of your card, or tokens) is worth; they then can set what amount of money needs to be input before a prize can actually be won, otherwise it won't have enough power to keep the prize held. That being said, the swing trick would still work, juuuuust don't do it too violently. TL;DR, Crane game requires a certain amount of money in for you to win, otherwise it has noodle arm strength when trying to pick it up
