We are at Pukerua bay Pedestrian crossing. When i crossed the tracks i did look.
Features:
Western Cullen Hayes E-Bell
Safetran Type 3 E-Bell
Griswold Classic bells
Unknown Train Coming Signals.
The only other crossings with old Bells are Koputaroa, Roslyn Road, Tyne Street, South Lane, Mokena Kohere Street in Manakau & Otaki, Old Hautere Road, Te Horo, Q.E Park, and Redwood. I don't know how much longer this crossing will have Griswold Bells for but it will be a sad day when they are replaced with E-Bells.I created this video with the KZfaq Video Editor ( / editor )

Those are certainly some interesting set-ups. Love how one has a Safetran mixed with a WCH and the other one has a pair of Griswolds on it!

I Agree with you. You can imagine how funny all the bells sound together when there is a crossover.

Also, the WCH was replaced with another safetran I think it came from another Crossing in Upper Hutt

This level crossing has both e-bells and m-bells for a reason, they are used to determine what side is going off as it is an island platform, so someone doesn't walk out infront of a second train. Plimmerton is all e-bells but uses dectional arrows and speed difference in the bell rate to determine what side is going off. Crossovers do happen at Pukerua Bay and quite often too, I will get that on film next time i go there.

Awesome!These signs have 2 bells! Here in Argentina they have a single bell and 2 red flashing lights. That sign of "Train coming" is excellent!

Thanks I'm based In New Zeland there is a similar setup at Plimmerton 7 minutes south of Pukerua Bay. All Plimmerton has is E-Bells but they ring at Different speeds.

I like the flashing signs they remind me of the old neon walk and don't walk signs we use to have in Melbourne

That's cool that it has TWO Griswold mechanical bells! I thought one was a Safetran or a WCH Mechanical bell instead!

Fun fact: One of those Griswold bells used to be for the other side, But when the station was upgraded (Either in 07 or 08) That was replaced with two electronic bells and the Griswold bell was put on the side you see now giving each side two bells where as each side only use to have one.

We have new ones in Norway now and they beep. They got rid of the bells and now has a long bar making the noise

Yeah I know it looks like it. But it actually says train coming its just the angle I had the camera positioned on.

These old bells are being replaced by the quieter ebells which is stupid. The old bells are loud and warn of oncoming danger. The new bells are quiet and warn nothing. Think they are replaced because of people living nearby. No excuse. They moved there,put up with it or move.

@@hphp3662 I think E-bells may be easier to replace if they break, and probably cheaper to operate.
