Hello , I have never been anything but inspired by your videos , and a little envious . Don't change a thing , your presentation and sense of dry humor are priceless . FYI . To me , nothing trumps bacon . I've seen a lot of your vids and would like to hear you tell us why you enjoy what you do . Not the filming and editing part but the joy in being in the outdoors and being feed and comfortable . I know why I do . Thanks again , Enjoy every minute of your adventures , Dan from Nova Scotia out . Peace

The woods are just a wonder to look at. It's the little moments in time which matters. Could be something small like a brook trout swimming in a pool or big like looking down a valley as the fog rolls in. I never know what it will be but know when I find it. Thanks for watching!

Great video once again. We have been into making all of our own sausages and breakfast sausage rounds, as it allow us to ensure what is going into them and to cut down on the amount of nitrates and preservatives. One thing that we usually make is chicken and bacon sausages which are one delightful meal. Have the taste of the sacred bacon with the leanness of some chicken. One other treat we enjoy is slicing and frying some of our own homemade salami and pepperoni in a cast iron fry pan over the open fire.

Oh my! When you unwrapped that kielbasa my jaw just dropped! And I said it just a millisecond before you - That trumps bacon! That sausage wasn't Oscar Meyer like your bacon, that was artisan sausage! Beautiful! I'm gonna have to try that sausage in the lentil soup recipe as well as the mashed potatoes with the bacon drippings recipe. Both looked delicious! Thanks so much for sharing your camping trip with us. I love winter!

Oh and another video you showed you seek without the Riley add on burning, cooking bacon and it was running clean, very little smoke. How did you do that?
@MegaWoodswalker
@MegaWoodswalker 6 жыл бұрын
That stack robber is a DIY not purchased. I do also run a larger Kifaru with a Riley spark box. I tend to vent the tent by opening the door some when cooking. In cold weather it sucks any smoke out fast. I tend to be careful when cooking but sometimes smoke up the inside when first stoking the stove and if not really concentrating on cooking. Overall once there is a coal base these stoves tend to draft better which then reduces smoke when opening the door to stoke the stove. Thanks for watching!

Do you use any of the Kifaru SST pins for snow or sand? If so are they just hollow aluminum tubing with a nut and bolt through one end for the grab loop to pull them out?
@MegaWoodswalker

I used both solid Ti nail pegs and Easton Al tubular pegs for this outing however made a DIY copy of the Kifaru SST pins and they work fantastic. Once I factored in the cost of materials, gas and time it would of been cheaper to by them from Kifaru. Thanks for watching!

No real point in taking a "shower" after only 1-2 days' camping in those conditions, unless you're just a clean freak. Our ancestors went far longer than that with no ill effects--as do I. And that's why you don't see much reference to it in these short adventures. It's a waste of energy and resources. Good for cinematic effect, though...
@MegaWoodswalker
@MegaWoodswalker 6 жыл бұрын
I left the truck on Saturday afternoon and returned on Tuesday afternoon. One pro to the wood stove is I have energy to burn, pun intended. It's running to heat the tent anyways so it's a freebie to boil water and cook food. The waste of energy and resources would be not utilizing the energy from the wood as the stove burns. Thanks for watching!
@Tinstaafl01
@Tinstaafl01 6 жыл бұрын
The waste lies in your own personal bodily resources. While it's arguable that you would expend the same amount of energy fueling the stove either way, chilling yourself unnecessarily depletes your bodily reserves. While that's acceptable in a recreational sense, it's a formula for failure in an actual survival situation. But it does make for good entertainment. Thumbs up.

Hey buddy I got a question for you. I love watching your videos on hot tenting and winter camping. If you don't mind me asking for all your videos I probably miss it but, what kind of stove is that that you're using? Kind of like the size and that it folds up. Also, what stove do you recommend for winter camping? I know there's a big variety out there but you personally, which one do you like best overall? Also, what about a tent? I see canvas ones that are very very heavy but I'm looking for something for just two or three days up in the Adirondacks to use maybe late November early December let me know when you get spotty greatly appreciated thank you

I assume you've found your way with some hot tents by now, and I saw the Walker gave you the link for this stove. In case you're still looking, Luxe Hiking Gear makes some pretty decent quality tents for hot tenting. I'd say they're entry level for quality but price can't be beat. Seek Outside makes excellent tents at a little higher price. The end all be all of light weight heavy duty will not be destroyed construction has to go to Kifaru, but the price certainly shows. In the end they all have their ups and downs, you may find some floor plans work better for you than others as well so it's as much up to personal preference as pure price point. Good luck and welcome to the hot tenting world!

Looks nice; lots of dry wood makes for a easy night. I thought you would have more snow where you are though given the reports I have heard on the news. That is your 6 man? -2 - that's Fahrenheit? I was out a few days ago myself; even made a video - something I've never done before - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hMh9acZn2b2Wfqs.html - I still think we should have a tipi to tipi chat ;).

Long time no hear brother. How is everything going? Just after this video we got hit by a storm so now there is more snow. I will check out your video!

All is well; just milling around out in the woods hoping for more snow and freezing weather.

Sadly, I truly feel that his diet of ultra processed meats may have been a huge contributor to his demise , sadly … 😔😔😔

You’re overheating the stove. It shouldn’t glow red like that. Shut the air down. Your door warped from the heat will probably let enough air in.

You are mistaken. The stove is made to do that and it’s common knowledge to UL hot tenting. The stove and pipe is all of 3 lbs and is paper thin. Thanks for watching.

sausage, bacon, bacon grease not healthy. I watched almost all of the walkers videos and he ate these things most every episode.. I don't think it helped him. Very sad
