Quite Literally, the goal of law enforcement is to completely destroy the 4th amendment and ignoring the law aids in that goal.

They can request the footage but no one says they will get it. Often that requires a lawsuit. Some states do not believe body cam is really a public record so they won't give it at all without a court order. Don't ever fall for the trap of thinking laws protect you or provide you with some power. Laws only exists to prohibit or regulate what you could otherwise do lawfully. They do not benefit you or protect you to any degree more than the cops and the government benefit and protect you. You cannot enforce the law only the state can. You cannot prosecute the law, only the state can. You cannot judge the law, only the state can. The state rarely ever enforces the laws against itself and you cannot so, FOIA, great but only if the state decides to comply. Plus there is always, " it's an ongoing investigation we can't release that information".

I know all too well. Ashland city police abducted & kidnapped me from a public speaking event, for recording, while being recorded from multiple angles. They'd like to have ended my time here on this earth over it. They even admitted I was never under arrested, regardless of the fact the read me a portion of my rights, handcuffed me, took to their car, transported me to the sheriff's dept. First words upon contact with NO reason to suspect the driver of ANYTHING. "Anyone in the back?" Mental case! Looking at these twins, one would think that they look like nice brothers. That would be true in the real world but when you are a cop, ANYTHING is possible and it usually leans toward the evil side of things.
