Playing cool with the cop is a great practice but you have to draw the line if they try to violate your constitutional rights. He had no reason to search your car.

If i were you i would report this to the sheriffs office as unreasonable search and seizure. He had no probable cause or a warrant to search your car. You didn't give him permission to search your car unless it got cut out of the video. Your rights were violated and you could probably get out of the fix it tickets easily because of it. Not to mention you have the whole thing on video.

I guess the only thing I would’ve done differently in your situation is try to make it clear that I wasn’t the one doing donuts. Everything else you handled perfectly.

Here in Australia they’d have had you for the rims, spacers (illegal here), and stance too! And if you remove your cat here and get caught, it’s a $10k fine!! We’re allowed window tint though…with limits. I’ve heard of Aussie cops carrying light meters to test tint compliance!

The rear windows have to be 25% to be legal anything darker is illegal, most cops don't worry about dark tint in socal but every now and then you get THAT ONE dude that does lol. That cop was trippin, you handled that situation exactly as I would have. He was looking to get a rise out of you and/or get lucky with that stop.

I was a bit of a smart ass with him when he told me that all cars in CA HAVE to have a muffler, so I asked what about the cars made and sold without them? Like the SRT4 and Fiat 500. He told me I was wrong and they have mufflers 🤣

This honestly is the biggest reason I'm nervous about getting those particular mods for my car. I'd like a darker tint as well as changing the exhaust so that I could actually hear my GR86. I just don't know if I want to deal with Cali cops. Was already pulled over 3rd day of ownership going 69 on the freeway. For my taillights "not being on" which was some bs bc I checked at home and they were fine. Did some finger tracker test and wanted to get me for drunk driving. Once I explained to him that I was coming home from work and for the 2nd time that I've had nothing to drink, he finally gave up and let me go with a warning.
