Brilliant explanation of concepts!! Just one doubt sir... Can we use bur on zinc phosphate base to reduce its thickness(if applied too much) or to flatten it?? I do that on typhos in 2nd yr not sure its allowed on patients 😅
@Aspire32
@Aspire32 3 жыл бұрын
Ideally we should not. Because it may affect the strength of the cement. Dont worry eventually u will learn it to adjust it with hand instruments.

Hello sir Your explanation is excellent But 1)I have two question -- How we identify the thickness of residual dentin ? 2) during condensation of restorative material how we judge how amount of force applied?
@Aspire32

Sir then should we apply varnish after base application in case of GIC & ZPolycarboxylate cement?
@Aspire32
@Aspire32 3 жыл бұрын
According to the phillips and old editions if Sturdevant Varnish is recommended for amalgam restoration if you are given gic and poly base. The new books say sealant can be used. I have explained the new point in fundamental series. Do check

Dr.SURESN in deep caries class 5 you need pulp protation base and liner or not
@Aspire32
@Aspire32 3 жыл бұрын
There is more need of pulp protection in class 5 since its more the tooth is thin is this section. If you feel its deep then better to give base.. generally giving base liner depends on rdt which I have explained in whole series of pulp protection here. kzfaq.info/sun/PLdPsg6P-6Vlezs_0ZaBoOU7u9OC_KlVma

Sir i have a doubt if the RDT is very less lets say 0.5 then can we use zinc phosphate as a base after applying varnish first on cavity surface... Will this work Or the pulp would still get irritated??
@Aspire32
@Aspire32 3 жыл бұрын
No. If rdt is less varnish and base can not help unless u have calcium hydroxide layer as a liner

If we give zinc phosphate as base even though high ph it blocks dentinal tubules know then how it acts as pulp irritant in deep cavity?
@Aspire32
@Aspire32 3 жыл бұрын
Its just sitting on the tubule. When acid leach out from the lowe portion is goes straight in the tubule and reachs pulp

@@Aspire32 but when it is used when RTD is more than 0.5 how it prevent leaching out acid?
@Aspire32
@Aspire32 3 жыл бұрын
The tubules are smaller at 1.5 mm of dentin than 0.5 mm of dentin. The molecular can penetrate when tubule become big. I have explained it in the video. Do watch all parts

what causes acidity of dental bases?
@Aspire32

The composition. For example the phosphoric acid in zinc phosphate makes it acidic. To know more about the properties of each cement check my videos on Cements on the following link kzfaq.info/sun/PLdPsg6P-6VldTjajPjbmZWE9mK3hQRlfQ
