Awesome run through as always Rhado! I really enjoy this game! So many choices and not enough actions to do them all. Love the variety of strategies which all seem plausible. However I do feel like a strong transmitter strategy is hard to beat imo. I really think bonus dice is crucial in this game as well.

Thanks for the playthrough! I enjoy point salads and space (plus I have an original comic character named Pulsar, lol) so now I think I have to get this.

The wife and I both love this as well. Me particularly so. Brilliant and engaging mechanisms. I really like how it looks on the table which puts me at odds with the hordes who will soon descend here to claim the game is ugly.

The gameboard would have been fine for an game from 1980´s... but now...

it /does/ have a kind of oldschool look, now that you mention it. not quite though. not sure whats off about it that gives it a more modern tinge on top. wonder what thats all about. we should study the styles over time, see if theres any obvious trends that could be exploited by devs.

I think it looks great! Beautiful table hog and why not! Our only other space themed game is Tiny Epic Galaxies, so this makes a change!

I know! I was reading about this game on reddit and the majority was saying how ugly it is. I couldn't believe it. When I first watched a video about it, the first thing that I thought is how cool it looks. Weird.

Hi Duck :D lol I've ordered this from Amazon with a gift voucher, but it's not dispatched yet. I'm having second thoughts. My wife and I really don't enjoy very *relaxed* point salads. We were left feeling flat after playing Concordia, and Rajas of the Ganges. We enjoy super tense ones like Vinhos, and Agricola, and also also enjoy fun medium tense ones like Marco Polo and Trashing Dice. With your deep understanding of games I'd love to know where you would put the feeling of Pulsar 2849 on that scale; relaxed, medium tense, or very tense?

hmm, i really like this classification of relaxed tense scale. hmm... i'd say this gets close to trashing dice, but not quite. this is probably closer to your concordia & rajas references i'd say

Is it my impression or in latest videos you've been spending much more time explaining the rules before getting into the run through? Intentional? I have to say I preferred when you started playing sooner...

I had my first play with 3 players today. A fantastic game. Best dice drafting mechanic i have ever played with. I play all kind of games but i think ameritrash type wargames are my favourite type of genre. Still, i think this must be a top 5 game of 2017 for me.

It's at the beginning. Richard have rolled the dice and checked the place of median. After that he is thinking which side of the HQ he is using for him and Jenn. It says at the rule book that you need to decide which side of the HQ you are using before you roll the dice.

But i guess you could make it as a house rule. Maybe it gives you more direction at the first turn if you are choosing the side of the HQ reactive way after rolling the dice.

Mechanically, it appears that the physical red die isn’t really needed. If multiple players have the potential to use the red die, why is there only one?

functionally it's not needed at all. its inclusion is mostly symbolic

The red gives you more actions, like with transmitters, and it can give you lot of points if used wisely.
