Last year Puma overall really killed it... versatility, value for money and no question THE best outsole out there!!! I'm sooo hoping for an upgrade on the women's specific Run XX Nitro, possibly the most comfy shoe I've ever had BUT for some reason the energy return on the midsole there left a lot to be desired!!🤷🏻‍♀

@@MadanmohanMehra-ib5yd Personally I find both the Deviate Nitro 2 and 3 among my best shoes ever and definitely the most versatile !!! You might also try out the Adidas Boston 12 or even better the Saucony Speed 3 which is even lighter with an agressive rocker for road workouts! If you have more money to spend , soooo many people absolutely rave about the Hoka Rocket X 2 and the Asics Superblast as their all-time favourite shoes for speed work on the road!!

The 2 were some of the best shoes I ever had. Looking forward for the 3. Thanks for the video and the news of their release. My concern is with the power tape which was really constrictive in the ForeverRun.

I have the VN2 with the white/beige First Mile colorway. I haven't put so many miles on it because it looks so good so I use it casually.

Can't wait to see more video comparisons bettewn the Puma Velocity Nitro 3 Vs. Pegasus 40, Adizero SL and why not , VS. PUMA Magnify Nitro 2. I'm glad to know that these shoes should be more resistant to twisting by the arches since it has more middlesole stack (2mm) and they added rubber coverage under the arches where the version 2 had a weak spot that overpronate runners could break the shoes. Making them permanently twisted on that weak spot where the harder eva foam was very tim and had no support from a hard rubber bellow it or from a better resilient upper to hold the foot in place . The Adizero SL also had a similar weak spot at the same spot , while the Pegasus 40 had a fantastic lockdown and a stronger foam that had no twisting issues.

I’m a complete Velocity fanboy as my daily trainer. I still have a pair of v1 in my rotation and I have a box fresh pair of v2 that I got for £45 ready to go in spring. I also got a pair of v2 goretex for winter which have been great, the grip is so good I’ve used them for a couple of trail runs in the lakes. I’ll be stocking up on v3 when they hit the sales!

Great first run review! Not regretting my $50 nitro 2 purchase (2nd pair) then. Btw, these make excellent walking shoes after retirement.

@@tadejdanev5030 I understand. I could have chosen words differently such as “not regretting recently buying nitro 2’s for cheaper”. My point was that I bought it at steep discount knowing that the velocity nitro 3’s were coming out, and not regretting it. If the nitro 3’s was a huge improvement, even at a discount, I would have wished I waited. Hopefully with this new version, the nitro 2 will be more affordable for many in all various regions. VN2 wonderful shoe, bit hot on the feet in Bangkok where i live. VN3 looks more airy? Happy Puma didn't mess up one of Nick's favourite shoes!

The Puma rep. at TRE said they added a little more flex to the forefoot and also mentioned the upper was more breathable compared to the 2. Did you notice those differences? Like the Volocity 2, it might take repeated runs before you can judge the full flexibility level because the 2's took some breaking in before it created a flex point in the location where your foot naturally flexed. The laces look flatter for a better lockdown more like the orig than the 2's more rounder shape.

I think that it's interesting that you're comparing it to the Axon shoes from Saucony - the Axon 2 has paired with the Velocity Nitro 2 as my daily shoes for the last year, alternating between them day by day. I've found the Pumas to be a more exciting and comfortable running shoe, but the Axons have been easier on my legs on long runs. Today is probably my first day in the Axon 3, and I'm still waiting for the Nitro 3 to become available here in Canada - fortunately, I have about 300km left in my current pair of Velocity Nitro 2s, and another pair sitting in my closet.

Loved the 1, found the 2 a bit unsteady so wasn't a fan, excited for the 3 to pop up in some sales though

Puma Velocity Nitro 2 different edition's behave differently. I have 75th Anniversary edition and they are easiest to put on. The outsole grip is very good but it wore down in just 200 km, that was a shock to me because the one I had before "Puma Velocity Nitro 2 fade" I ran 500+ kilometers. The other I have is Puma x First Mile Velocity nitro 2,it is the most difficult to put on and outsole is holding on. The only reason I buy them is because of the Puma Grip and yes its pretty good.

Interesting I have the 75th picked them up when they went on sale and agree so easy to get on and comfortable. I use mine whenever the roads are wet for the grip and so far they are showing no signs of early wear.

Thanks for that info. I've always wondered what the differences were between the Velocity editions. I just know the First Miles are supposed to be made with more "sustainable" materials... whatever that means for Puma 😂 But I'll probably like the 75th edition if it means more comfort at the cost of durability. I would wait for the prices to really drop for them to be worth it, though, if that's the case. Cheers!

It seems like the Wide version of Velocity Nitro 2 was only available in certain markets, I wonder why and if anything will change with this year's version. The regular version is a bit long and narrow for me. :/

Imo the Mach 5 shouldn't be recommended, OR when it's recommended to include the information that it's one of the worst shoes considering the km per $$. It's one of the least durable shoes out there with the midsole going flat very fast.

Agree. Mach's durability is awful. Most of my shoes last over 1000 miles, but Mach 4's foam died at 150 miles.

Interesting. Wonder if it depends on how heavy the runner is? I’m 62kg but 750km on my Mach 5 and probably still good for another 100km. I certainly don’t use it for faster runs though. I can’t get anywhere near my carbon plated paces, so very much a daily mile muncher for me.

@@DarthTrader66 For reference, my weight is the same as yours. I usually have five to seven shoes on rotation depends on which training block I am in. My Mach 4 felt like bricks, and I had to retire them at 321 km. Perhaps running in multiple shoes was the reason that I knew the foam was dead at certain point.

@@DarthTrader66if you're not going fast in them, why not just use the Clifton 9? I tried both of them at the store and found the Mach 5 to be inferior in comfort, which I value more than speed, personally. The Machs ($200~) are also more expensive than the Cliftons ($170~) where I'm at by the way, probably because of the over-hype now. Was there a reason you still preferred the Mach 5? I'm just really curious, because I really don't get the hype over them and am trying to figure out if I'm missing something. Or if there's something wrong with my feet because the fit was just really uncomfortable for me compared to the Clifton 9 (assuming you also tried the Clifton when you went shopping for the Mach).

I didn't like the two layer mesh upper of the VN2, it was too warm in the summer and retained water easily. If the new upper fixes that, then the VN3 is well worth choosing over it predecessor

Is the Saucony Tempus a better option for more reactive push of and general tempo ( 4.30km pace ) besides the price difference? Or would say this new version can handle it ? I have the velocity 2 fade but wasn't quiet over happy with the responsiveness, or is that the Fade model lacking a bit compared to the std version?

I think the direct competitor of this shoe is Nike Pegasus wrt to price and features for example outsole) and I think Velocity Nitro outperforms Pegasus.

Is the heel clip somewhat rigid? I had a problem with the VN2 because it was not rigid. I need some support in the heel.

Hope the managed to improve the foam. Was so bad on the 2. After just 200km i had crooked shoes altough i run neutral. Bad shoes

Velocity and Ride are both good shows, have the 17 and V2 and the T21Love the ride and Puma. But i would use the T21 over these. They are superior shoes in all cases.

@nicholairisvang I don't know if you've the older versions of the triumph 19 and velocity 2. The T19 is slightly cheaper than the V2 now for me, although that could change soon when the V3 comes out. Would you still say the T19 is a much better shoe than V2 for comfort and versatility? Ride 17 is still expensive, so I would probably just get a T21 over that.

@@KneeTaps of all the mentioned shoes i would rate the T20 and the T21 as the best. but the Puma V2 is a great shoe. For most Daily things it is fine. The V3 may be improved so Deffo sounds great as a Daily driver. But if I could only choose one I would go Saucony Triumph 21, or the 20 if you find a bargain. But for the Daily runner doing 5-10 km a few times a week, i see the Puma as a perfect shoe, and a bit cheaper as Well i recon

@nicholairisvang yeah. I think I will wait for the T20 to drop in price for now. The T19 is roughly around $60-65 at the moment, same as the Velocity 2, but the T20 is still around $100, and I just got the Magnify 2 recently, so it's kind of in between the Velocity and the Triumph, I guess. Depending on how much I like the Magnify 2 in the next couple of months, I might just stick with it for a while, and hopefully, by the time I wear them out, maybe even the T21 will be on sale by then. It all works out in an ideal world haha 😄 Cheers!

I wear the VN2 everyday as a casual / recovery shoe, the price of the VN2 was the best thing for me, simply affordable, we are seeing yet another brand jump on the 5% price increase train, I did not get a 5% pay rise to pay for them, so gonna look elsewhere, thanks Puma time with you was good
