TROUBLE WITH FIRST HOLE OPEN PA Hello sir, I am a beginner (3 months)so I ordered a C-scale flute from Punam with the trust that I would find a properly tuned flute without much trouble as I don't have a guide to choose it for me. whatever little knowledge I have, I can say that it sounds very nice and melodious Just to give you an idea, i learn from youtube mentors like you & at the current stage I am comfortable enough to produce the sounds. Also, I play some notes with the help of youtube tutorial videos. The problem I am facing is that I am not able to produce the PA with 1st Hole open. Not even once I was able to produce the sound since I have bought this flute. I have experimented with several ways to hold the flute with 1st hole open just to produce the right sound 'once' for reference and also to be sure of the fact that flute is ok and the problem is my holding technique. But I am pretty sure that it's not because of any leakage. Please note that although I don't have enough stamina or flexibility of fingers as of now, but I have absolutely no problem in play the PA with all the holes closed (Komal Pa I guess). It has a very base sound and lacks the pitch. I am just stuck at this point. can't move forward without resolving it. Please help me understand the issue. Is it possible that the Flute has any manufacturing issue, any hairline crack of some sort at any particular location that could cause this issue? Is see a lot of video tutorials where people prefer to play with ease the middle or higher octave PA with the first hole open. Is this a common problem or is it unique to me? Help me resolve this issue. Any fellow learner's advice is also welcome.

You have to blow with more pressure/intensity , squeeze you lips a little tight and blow a bit harder .

I have purchased Punam flute c natural Medium right hand paid 2374rs for this on Amazon. But it's not well tuned last three holes not making sound it's hard to use. I bought radhe flute for 399rs it sound better than this punam flute. I recommend radhe flute for learning.

@@viralxclips101 yes bro not all punam flutes are good they are so smart they ask us to rate 5 starts after purchase. People buy because this scam reviews. Another thing am noticed in youtube some people using normal flutes but they putting description of pubam flute. It's another type of scam. If you really want to buy good punam flute you need to visit offline store and check and buy. Don't buy from online.

@@mood-4-U Hi, I bought Sarfuddin flute set, 1 year ago. They are vey good. Go for it. But can't compare with Punom, as I didn't use them. But I think both are same. There may difference in bamboo quality, as one reviewer told.

@@mood-4-U Though I suggest you that most brands are same. So don't buy from online. First search in your locality who makes good flute with northern or south Indian bamboo. Of course those will be high priced, but little bit less. Go to that flute maker, and tell your blowing technic and everything. He will make as per your requirement. Also you can check. If you are fully beginner, want to start then you can go for any brand. Sarfuddin is good without any doubt. Punom is running for huge advertisement. Actually Subhash sir and Sarfuddin sir both are resident of same city Patna.

U said u used sarfuddin flute.. how is the tunings? Does its sargam perfectly match with .... C scale tanpura? Sir you are an excellent teacher, I have learnt a lot from you. I had two questions: 1) How to play the higher octave without breaking the sound, because when for example I play ga in the upper octave for more than 4-5 seconds the sound shakes and it looks unpleasant. 2)Which note will be played if partially close the third hole(from the bottom as there is no komal sa , so which note is played). Please answer these questions, I will be grateful.

But when I close the third hole partially, I am getting a note different from ni as well as sa, is that there i no name for it or probably it will be some note which is not a "proper" note in the major scale of my flute, try doing it , you will feel the difference between the three notes.

Samarth Sai Technically, there are lots of notes between B and C. Western music is based on a 12-note scale. So if you go from A to A (the next octave up or down), it makes one "cycle" so to speak, which is divided up into 12 notes in between (representing the keys of a piano). However, on an instrument like trombone (or fretless bass!) it is possible to hit many notes in-between. Sounds out of tune to our ears, but is in fact widely used in various forms of microtonal and world music. But in terms of your question, B to C or E to F is the same musical "distance" as F to F# or A to Ab. They're half-steps. The difference between their sound is so small that if doesn't cause any change. But, yes you are right there is some change if you cover the B hole partially which is not generally used in music as the change in sound is too small to be used.. Hope it helps!!!🙏🙏🙏

I can play all suddha notes madhyam to taar within a week that too all by myself and observing hand positions. I can't yet properly play komal notes and alankars. I would say depending on intelligence, it takes around 2 months for you to play any song if you practice daily and focus on improving. Off course I can play guitar and I too play that by ear and learnt it by myself. So if you don't have any knowledge of music it will take years
