Bro no its not. Trash talk is the literally opposite of being a professional thus trash talk is more or less absent in professional sports scenes...... you dont see trash talk in the NBA, NFL, MLB , NHL all of them have rules against talking too much trash. Its an objectable offense in most PROFESSIONAL sports...... MMA and Boxing have been gimped and handicapped because of trash talk. They realized that high school level drama is more profitable than making good fights so they make fights based on trash talk instead of what would make for a good fight. Demphasizing trash talk is the way to go if we dont want to ruin our fgc scene long term.

@@httohot what?? Trash talk most definitely does exist in professional sports to the point that in the MLB both baseball teams will jump on the field and scrap when something pops off. Then there’s hockey where the brawls are even part of the sport. I have no idea what you’re talking about. All professional athletes have an ego, some let it show more than others but best believe trash talk is super common in sports.

@@DaGRAV31.) Like i said trash talking is an eject able offense and usually results in fines for players. It has has gotten people suspended in PROFESSIONAL sports like the NBA and NHL. They are expected to act like professionals and professionals dont resort to immature trash talk..... 2.) fights =/= trash talk if trash talk leads to fights as you say then why is it a good thing.....? Are you there to see high school level drama or watch high level athletes compete? Trash talk is common in all sports at low levels where the focus isnt on the high levels of skills.

Your in the fighting game community, beating the person who popped off and beat your student/friend added hype to you as a player. Yo the reason I love/d the east coast boys is their fire and trash talking but lately I feel like punk is kinda going into LTG territory. I dunno I kinda like that smooth shit talking rather than dudes getting amped for seemingly no reason. Still love my boy punk but his demeanor has been changing. Like he used to talk shit and laugh cuz it’s jokes and facts. Especially when no one is mouthing back. Like if his opponent were to talk back while getting washed I would hope he’d go in but Chris didn’t seem like he was reciprocating which is why I compare it to LTG. @@pretzelcoatl_1121 I feel you. I just hope punk is playing into the character he seems like a really nice guy , I think that's the character he's playing a bit into . The villain keeps the story going , batman would suck if there were no villains to fight .. Me personally I never liked bullies but in this case/ FGC banter we need villains to keep it hype even when we talk about LTG his kind is needed to keep it hype now in guys like LTG case they border on toxic which is not welcome but even then we are more hype to see him lose/rage quit so for the means of entertainment I think the trash talk is welcome . I will say this tho when it's not an opponent that's trash talking it can seem a bit like bullying , but I also wanna note those same guys may not do much trash talking but they do pop offs and get hype when they win so technically they are also celebrating someone's loss so if someone else trash talks to them later when the opponent wins I call fair game . I'd like to also note their are some that don't trash talk or celebrate they just dap it up and keep it moving and maybe those guys can be excluded .

I just turned 39 and I remember being 11 years old and actually going to the arcade and playing sf2. A super young age at a bowling where my parents were playing league. It was in albany in the east Bay Area of California. It was a centralized area where Oakland Berkeley and Richmond hoods would inevitably meet. You needed this hard edge because people would really be belligerent at the sticks. But at the same time what’s lost on fighting games today is that people are cooped up in there homes creating these introverted weirdos with no street etiquette. Competition today is filled with people who can create a persona and hide behind a screen and allow themselves to be who they think they are. When you find some success it doesn’t change you. It makes you more of who you already were. If people can’t take that he was “bullying” maybe it’s your own inhibition that makes you feel uncomfortable that you need to address. You popped off.. that’s not what a real samurai** does. Play your part and do you. You won the game. Quit being a toy.

It's the biggest paradox in the FGC (at least in the US). Trash-talk comes hand-in-hand with competition. Whether or not there's a place for it in pro-level esports calls to the stand what it's like at amateur level tournaments or playing at home of which every pro player has come up from. There's also need to consider whether or not there's entertainment value to be derived from it for the spectators as that one comment alluded. Obviously, I'm not a pro-level player, so my opinion don't mean much, but I do think pro-level events could do without it. As a spectator, the spectacle is in the actual play taking place on the game screen irrespective of what else is happening in the immediate atmosphere of the players.

It wasn't a good look when he said "I love you and I trust you". That's a sign of a generation. If I know trash talk can break an opponent down, I'll talk more trash. If you can make the trash talker silent with a win, it's even a 100 times sweeter. Gen X'er here.

Remember, Tokido had punk crying at EVO back in 2017. This young generation just needs to toughen up and think "One day I'll beat you Punk and make you cry like Tokido did". And when that young man finally does beat Punk, remind him that he was crying like a b***h. In competition, no need for Love and Trust, it's time to smash and dominate. Save the love and Trust for your wife and children.

Punk is just being his version of a showman. Sprinkling a lil spice. It's "eSports" but it's also combat. It's not bullying. These guys also all know each other, I don't think Chris took it personally at all. And I think it's more likely that Samurai and Punk might have a little beef. They also have polar opposite style/demeanor. So there's that ideological clash. I mean look how heated the Midwest VS West Coast 5v5 was, and JaK and CCH are on the same team chill as hell. So idk if there's history there with Samurai and Punk, and no disrespect to samurai for taking a stand when he feels his friends were wronged, but you gotta understand the showmanship and that these "kids" are adults that have seen it all.

Even if words are personal, we're all adults at this point in our lives. If you can't ignore the trash talk and it bothers you as a person then I would suggest not putting yourself in that situation. Bullying is something to be taken more seriously amongst CHILDREN, who are less capable of protecting themselves from the mental repercussions which can lead to all sorts of terrible outcomes. I watched the entire ordeal and Punk wasn't even CLOSE to being out of line. All he was doing was complaining about the character nearly EVERY SINGLE PERSON was playing at that event. Punk brings something special to the community, and part of that is his banter. Asking him to tone it down is like asking him to remove a part of his soul. Keep being you, Punk, I and many others appreciate you.

"Life is something like a salad bar. You gotta help yoself." It's not Punk's job to build up people. Don't they have a team for that?! I'm not saying Punk right or wrong. But there's been times where I talk shit to Psych myself up. And when I do, my focus gets more intense and less shit phases me cause I'M locked in completely. If I'm not hype and Poppin off, yelling n screaming, and talking shit (if you start it)...you not getting my all. I'm playing at like 50-60%. Granted. My 50-60% is Great. But my 100% is Pro level. I can't say a muh fucka wrong for talking shit when there's times I do it too. But sometimes it may not even be about the other person.

Punk is one of the most passionate FGC members there is. I bet he had to do some mental warfare for his own, since he feel ChrisCCH beat him previously, so he felt he had to get that one back. I can definitely see what Samurai says, but I have actually had the pleasure of talking to punk without a controller in his hand, and he is one of the nicest people I´ve met, even come out as shy. Anyways, I do not see it as bullying, but mental warfare, but I can see how it can be perceived as bullying as well. So I just wrote a lot, and still nothing is clear. LOL. Thanks for the content Nesto. Keep it comming.

You can’t put a container or measurement to passion at that high of a level, most especially in a competitive setting. I don’t know everyone’s situation but I bet for someone like Punk this is their full-time gig. People wanna see the smoke, heck even get smoked, but when it gets too hot then they quick to say you shouldn’t play with fire. I hear what Samurai is saying, but if Punk hadn’t struck a nerve would he have retaliated that way and get the dub? Prolly not, so which one do you want? Mans on the mic was even saying “I gave you what you want and now you ask for the receipt?” LOL Dominance through mental warfare is age old in any sport, that’s why the mental resilience of these guys is almost unbreakable, they’ve made it part of the game bully or not. If smack talk isn’t banned in the rules, then no holds barred! And that’s why the level continues to climb and why competition is Survival of the Fittest mentally! Alternatively, you can be well behaved and compliant like some Japanese players and be a killer assassin... let the skills do the talking... but we don’t watch American athletes for that reason lol. I wonder, if Punk could speak fluent Japanese would he smack talk his Japanese peers, because he would know that you don’t rock the boat and that’s how he could get into their heads to break their minds. But also, don’t you think Punk’s level of mouthing off is actually his way of showing tough love and actually showing respect? Hrmmm...🤔

We are definitely in a different time in gaming Punk can be annoying at times but in this particular event he seemed to be more on the public entertainment showman side vs just deliberately trying to bully people A part of me think that with the whole playing in the comfort of your home in virtual private parties with like minded individuals in a more controlled setting playing games in this modern day social climate might've had something to do with why more modern gamers aren't as confrontational Because back then to lets say 09er era when online gaming on console really took off and SF came back with legacy players from the face to face arcade era in front and in person really put you in sometimes a fight or flight kinda having to adapt environment where that was the norm. And talking to players from around the world while playing a game was new to alot of people so the trashtalk was so unhinged it molded into a whole generation of online players because that was the climate of its time which forced alot of people to adapt to it especially during big events and money matches. Everything about that Yipes "IT'S MAAHVEL BAYBEE" pt 1 and 2 or any of his old public sets which garnered him mega fame in the fgc (Outside of being an absolute beast in MVC2) spoke to our souls as a community back then because thats how it was and he ended up landing as our beloved color commentator But how the community is now if Yipes were to come out now with how he used to talk back then, I mean he's still very outspoken but I mean like how he'd be beatin Storm up in the corner yelling at his opponent "COME GET YA SH*T SPIT ON B$*%!!! COME PUNCH DIS B$%*&AAA ONE MO FO DA DOOR MAN!!!" and whatnot, they probably would try to cancel him on how he used to talk. So I think right now we are hitting a bit of an empass with how people view trashtalking as a whole now as new views on it usually from new players are just not for the behavior at all and probably wasn't really a part of that environment heavy when it was a big deal is just my overall thesis.
