actually punk sounds very much like metal should be redefined as a type of metal in my opinion anyway as for the difference between metal and rock well rock is played slower and lighter also is more simple and metal is also heavier

+Joël LeMay both are there own thing and very similar yet different, but when you take into account how lamb of god, entombed, megadeth, metallica, slayer, exodus, suicidal tendencies (obviously) and darkthrone based itself of some punk and punk took inspiration from Motörhead and venom, and grindcore basing itself off death metal even though it is a form of punk

Another thing is that both of them have specific guitar sound. One metal band made cover of a punk hit, and in their interpretation it sounded metal, although melody was the same.

Metal is for guys who don’t understand what dynamics are and think playing super fast is tasteful. Punk is raw and untrained, emotion is more important in punk

@@KendrickMegaFan Bruh you don't even know Metal then because Thrash Metal is the faster stuff. Punk is pretty damn fast too sometimes. Yes, punk is more raw and experimental, but that doesn't make it way better, sometimes music with more straight-forward skill is better, I'm a huge fan of both genres, Punk and Metal are both awesome

cosmic338 Punk has solos, about the exact same as metal, this guys using chords as the only tell for what punk "supposedly" sounds like. Truths is the're metal songs that only use chords like his punk example. The only real differences in punk and metal are song structures, band attitudes and Lyric styles.

Firefox1095 But Punk does the "deeper" topics as well. And metal does the exact same thing that you described for punk. Hardcore punk was very political and could have been rebellious as well. It depends on the types of punk and metal that you're referring to.

It's not "lazy" it is just more straightforward and raw. It is the essence of the genre. I don't know if you've ever been to any punk or even hardcore punk show, but they are often intense as fuck with the musicians going nuts. You rarely find this level of intensity in most metal songs. Metal is more about composition and musicianship.
