You know tech has come a long way since then. It's smaller, faster, does more and fits in your hand. BUT, There's nothing like the feel and sound of a quality stereo with big speakers in your house. Columbia House. Yup. 12 "free" LPs to start or whatever the number. But what a rip-off. Forget to send the postcard back in time each month, and get stuck with some crappy LP for twice or three times the local price. Total scam.

Burgess Meredith. . I wish there where still stereo stores. I joined the Columbia tape club and i bought at Kmart. Pop Rocks was a very disconcerting sensation. But wait, there's more, if you act now - - - - PONG.

Don’t forget CMC Stereo , close to the corner of I-10 and what is now Beltway 8 in Houston. I bought my Marantz 2275 stereo receiver there in 1977 for the princely sum of $325. I still have that receiver , built like a brick outhouse. Ahh, the memories. The owner’s manual is a parchment paper bound book that will last as long as the receiver. The cool blue lighting and that horizontal flywheel FM tuning feature...
