Our favorite sitcom, Punky Brewster is back on Peacock...but did you notice all of the easter eggs and throwbacks from the original? No worries, we put them together for you. Let's take a look behind the scenes!
Synopsis: Soleil Moon Frye reprises her iconic role as Punky Brewster in this continuation of the beloved sitcom about a spirited young girl raised by a foster parent. Punky is now all grown up but barely keeping it together as a newly single mom of three when she decides to take in Izzy (Quinn Copeland), a kindred spirit in the foster system who just might help Punky rediscover her old self.

Me three! And I met a girl at the fair who looked like Cherrie and she said they were her favorite too (It was haloween and I was dressed like Pippi and she guessed both Pippi and Punky. So now there's 4 of us in the world. :)

It's really funny when she starts singing and dancing in the car and her teenage daughter looks at her like Punky was a crazy person. I think anyone who grew up in the 80s can relate because kids today look at us like we were crazy.

I know that I am nitpicking here, but, Henry was only Punky's foster father for the first two seasons. He formally adopted her at the end of the second season. That made him her bona fide father.

i swear the casting director needs a raise. she had just enough of the look, attitude and comedic timing to match young punky, while still bringing her own character into it.

I was born in 1982, I can’t remember watching Punky in the 80s. I’m 39 now I finished the fourth season on Peacock yesterday. Great show and now I’m watching the reboot great show so far.

The only thing I don't understand is that in the original series, Punky was adamant about becoming an astronaut. But in the reboot, she becomes a photographer like Henry. What made her change her mind on what career she wanted?

I’m kind of disappointed she became a photographer. I get that it’s homage to Henry, but in the original Punky was adamant she didn’t want to be a photographer and wanted to be an astronaut. I think they could have at least given her a decent science/astronomy type job for the reboot.

I think it might be also a nod to Soleil’s own love of photography and videography. Throughout her teen years and beyond she was always with camera in hand filming and taking photos of everything and anything.

Miranda, you made a really solid point. That came out in the very last episode of the original series. Where her father wanted her to follow in his footsteps but she was adamant about wanting to be an astronaut. And it concluded like that with the rest of the episode focusing on everything Brandon the dog did throughout the seasons ending the entire series with Brandon the dog's wedding. I think the perfect balance would have been astrophotography. Also an episode of her being a photographer in the international Space Station or the Heavenly Palace would be perfection. But I'll settle for astrophotography.

They should have brought Allen back. If that actor is even still alive that is. But I just read that this show was cancelled after only 1 season. That wouldn't have happened if it was on NBC (or some other regular TV station).

A skate key was for old school 80's roller skates which is what was used to fit your skates on your feet and keep them in place and then loosen them to take them off.

Cherie's uncle is David W. Duclon. He named the character Cherie after her, and she thought he wrote the character for her. He told her she'd have to audition, and she did and won the role.
