I think it's just the straight major vibe with less dissonant guitars than PUP usually have in their own songs, lead guitars that sound somewhat synthy and fuzzed out + Jeff has a lot of cool songs that follow the 6/8 waltz sorta vibe.

Jesus Herrera Comedy Grandaddy’s first 3 albums (Under The Western Freeway, Sophtware Slump and Sumday) are really great albums. Sophtware Slump is probably their magnum opus but Sumday and UTWF have great songs on them and are they’re honestly not recognised enough as a band.

Grandaddy is such a neat niche band, fell in love with them after hearing "Jed The Humanoid" in a one off video online. Got a few of their albums on vinyl and listen to them all the time. Never would have expected them to get an alt/punk cover
