Puppets, Turntables, And A String Quartet | K.K. Barrett & Kid Koala's "Nufonia Must Fall Live"

Oscar-nominated K.K. Barrett (Her, Where the Wild Things Are) directs a genre-mashing adaptation of Kid Koala's graphic novel, Nufonia Must Fall, in an experience that is equal parts cinema, theater and concert. Under Barrett's direction, the performance unfolds via real-time filming of more than a dozen miniature stages and a cast of puppets, while Kid Koala, accompanied by the Afiara String Quartet, performs his original score on piano and turntable.

I fell in love with Kid Koala after hearing Nufonia before reading it and it's just grown through the years. But this....this reduced me to literal tears with how beautiful it is. And so...right. So well thought out, so awesome. It really reminds me of the classic Warner Brothers epic "The Line and the Dot". I so wish I could see this live.

I saw this in 5th grade funny enough as a 5th-grade field trip. by far my favorite field trip. It kind of shaped me for what kind of music I create and a picture in my mind as I create. Kid Koala is what made me a DJ, one that has a story in mind in any performance. Kinda sad that most of my peers forgot about the trip but im glad I still remember it.

I got to see this January 29, 2016! It was so amazing and great! I've never seen something so simple have such a huge effect. The robot is such a relatable character too. It's really a cute love story. Kid Koala did such an amazing job and I'm glad my uncle(who is a dj) gave us tickets to see him :3

Amazing. And it looks like its a really heartwarming and romantic love story. Not like the version that are being used nowadays. The old template is always the best.

The Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera, interesting choice. The great thing about this concept is it scales well. Kids/students/hobbyists at home can create a modest set and characters to make their own film.
