Just got a 3 month old female Rottweiler. It’s been less then 24 hours and we are working on potty training. I will start taking her outside every hour and after she eats and drinks.

I have a 11 weeks old female Rottweiler, i go Potty when she wake up, when she eats, when she Drink, when she Play, after every Action she make and when she is done i rewarde her. Sometimes she look at me and bark because she wants to Go outside after a meal. Thank you, and greeting from italy! (Sorry for my english)

I doubt I get a reply for this. But like…what do I do during sleeping hours? I can handle the hour on the hour more or less because I live with someone. But we do both need SOME sleep. How do I handle that? Does that go into the kennel training? (Asking pre emptively as I get pupper next week)

Should I be leashing my puppy when taking him out to potty? He is easily distracted and going all over the yard/patio - id like to have a designated area in our big yard that he goes in.

IF you would like them to go in a certain space having him on a lead while training him will help with guiding him to are desired area 😊

My puppy knows where she needs to go when she’s outside in our yard. She goes in this corner where there’s no grass and it’s kind of hidden, which is where I taught her to go. I am currently crate training her and she will cry when she wants to go but she will pee immediately on the floor if I don’t carry her outside myself to her spot, even if the garden door is a few steps away. Is this normal? She is 8 weeks old and has been with us for exactly a week tomorrow. I’ve never potty trained or crate trained a dog before. Will this behavior eventually fade as she gets older?

Hello, I just wanna ask if is it normal if my Rottweiler Puppy keeps stepping on his poops like literally every day and night. How do i stop him from doing that because i know he cant take a bath every day since he just turned 8 weeks today. I got him when he was 6 weeks and he’s been doing it everyday since i got him. He even sometimes lay down over his poops. And if we go out for a walk he’ll hold his poop even we stayed out for 3 hrs or longer and start pooping once we get back in our house.

Where do you take your rottie puppy out for walks when he’s so young? My vet told me not to take them out as Rottweiler puppies are more susceptible to illness when they are very young and haven’t had their full shots.

Just a quick question. At 5:10 you mention "not leaving the food down". What does this mean? More than happy to be made to look stupid. But the fact that you emphasised it so strongly and that I didn't fully understand it I thought it was necessary for me to ask. Thanks.

He means don't just leave a bowl full of food on the ground for a long time. For instance don't put more food in the bowl than your dog needs to eat. If you're feeding your pup the appropriate amount you shouldn't have to worry ;)

We do all that and our newly 4 month old pees ALL THE TIME. our boy took over a year and a neuter to stop going in the house. We were and have always been very routine, never discipline for accidents, make a big fuss when done right, they are outside with us all the time! At my wits end!!

Aw, I'm so sorry for your loss. We lost our pit/lab mix over a month ago and our house just has not felt the same. We bring our 8 week old rottie home tonight. 🥰 My heart can hardly stand it.

@@julietibbetts9262 thank you. My pup Rotti is 15 weeks and 6 days. He has triple in size, wieght in short time and love how the Rotti turn head when spoken too. Graduate first if four area of training this weekend. Learn so much so fast and quickly. Oh, the baby teeth, learning bite is unlike any other dog, he is learning but he still gets excited and my arms are his bite test, love overcomes it all in long run! Any ideas, love to learn more as he is so precious.

How do you address a puppy that is regressing when it comes to potty training? I have a 5 month old puppy that was doing really well with house breaking, however she now will randomly potty in the house. Her routine has not changed as far as new schedules or changes to/in the home.

My rotty is 3 months she knows where she’s meant to pee and just doesn’t hold her self like dogs do she will pee anywhere but she knows where her pads are whilst home she knows what she’s doing too as she’ll hide from me when does it lol apart from that she’s brilliant I’m at my wits with her so hoping this helps me

We have tried the method of taking our rottie out after every meal or drink and whenever she wakes up. Also whenever she whines urgently. So from what you are saying, we are doing it right.....however, our puppy was already 14 weeks old when we got her, and I am not sure what (if any) training had been done with her before we got her, but while she is outside she sniffs everything, she tries to run around (she is always leashed) she sits and looks around. And occasionally she will do her business. When she does, we praise her and she I allowed out of her kennel to run around the house with us. However, we are finding that she is coming in from being outside, and within 5 minutes of being back in, she is doing her business in the house 😖 It is sooo frustrating. What can be done to rectify this problem? When we take her out, we are outside with her for at least 10 minutes. And in Canada right now, that's not nice to have to do when it's -18 with the winchill.

I had this problem with my highly intelligent female doberman. She knows that when she wants to potty or pee. She have to go outside so she made it a habit to hold it when outside, even waiting hours for her. No avail and i soon as i come back home here she goes. I stop her and take her back outside. For her is more play time. And when she couldn't hold it she will potty. But leave some when we get back home. I tried everything. She just want to play. I gave her out to someone with a farm.

Iittle one does it. Then kind words of appreciation & a hug some kisses are showered , now he thinks it's the right way. It worked for me.

I’m in desperate need of help my 16 week old puppy is eating his poop in his crate. I take him out every hour on the hour ,but he holds it in and sneakily eats it. I took him to the vet and they gave him powder medicine to make it taste nasty. Two rounds of it but it didn’t work. He gets no poop chews but he still actively wants to eat his poop. He also will pee in the crate if u put him inside the crate and stare at you like he did it on purpose

It’s to do with their food. Our German shepherd did the same and our Rottweiler. We had to change their diets to something a bit more crap tasting and bland for a bit and they stopped. Apparently it tastes and smells just as nice when the food is a bit too rich for them 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Our Rotti puppy is 11 weeks now, we got her at 8 weeks. The issue for us is the breeder didn't allow them in the grass outside due to Parvo and only was in the house or the dog barn type area with huge pens and kennels. So she wants to pee on our hardwood floors and we will give her food and a ton of water and play outside for 4 hours with the kids too and as soon as she comes in, she goes on the floor. I've never dealt with a dog that didn't know about grass and dirt until 8 weeks old. She goes on pee pads 60% of the time that I leave out in a couple spots she uses often but she will run up to me and pee a couple inches from my foot like she's thinking "look at me being a good girl!!! I did it!!" Ugh

Help! I just brought two 16 week old rotties home. They won't learn their names, they refuse to walk on a leash, they just sit when taken outside then pee inside. They chew up their pee pads one after the other. They constantly eat chicken poop! I'm so frustrated. They've not let me sleep through the night for weeks now. I want to be a good rottie mom, but am failing miserably. Do all puppies behave this way or just rotties?
