IS IT GOOD THAT ..I drafted a daily schedule ⁉️ so I can post it on the fridge so my teens can continue a set🗓️🐾🐶 feeding/potty/sleep training schedule I created that the pup is starting to get used to. I don't want her to get confused while I'm at work and I work at night and try to get sleep in the day or do errands. 😩

My first dog was left with me when she was just about 3 months old, i was not ready to have a dog much less a rottie/lab/corso mix, i lived on the street at that time and was doing drugs and drinking alot. From the first day she started to rearrange my life in a way that made sense to her, even as a pup she taught me so much. Ffwd 8 years to now, i can simply say that she not only changed my life but saved it. We are in a good living arrangement, we have another rottie/lab and looking to get the third, im now a dog trainer opening my own business and its all thanks to her. I lived with dogs all my life but dogs like her come around only once, with such strenght of will and understanding and empathy. She just had her 9th birthday a few days back and she is still.going super strong

In my first solo apartment my next door neighbours had two ridgebacks and a boerboel named Stu. After I was followed home from the grocery store and almost assaulted (in broad daylight) they let Stu stay with me for two weeks. I'd dog sat for them often so Stu knew me and my house. I don't know how, but he seemed to know how scared I was. He followed me around the house, sat at the windows on guard in every room I was in, and snuggled me right out of my fear. Love you forever Stu. My current cattle dog mix can barely arse herself to get off the couch (she has many other wonderful qualities but guarding ain't one of them!)

@@strayandrongo7461 That is usually true - but given her other half is a combo of beagle and lab I'm pretty sure she got only those temperments...lol. Good news is she excels as a therapy dog. She's good companion certified and we go visit kiddos in the youth mental health facilities in my area.

"The first 2-3 days are going to be the roughest and you're going to second guess why you have a dog in the first place" I rescued an extremely anxious, formerly feral 9 month old pup from the shelter about 6 months ago and said this to myself for probably the first week or two trying to connect with this dog. Seemed like every day was different, two steps forward one back, some days 3 steps back. Thought I'd bit off more than I could chew but he's been progressing super well and getting better everyday.

The whole potty thing you explained is exactly what I did with my Corso and it works but as long as your puppy is out it’s important to keep an eagle eye on them so you can catch them and run outside with them. It only took 2 and a half weeks to do that with him as a 9 week old puppy starting the next morning after getting him. He is almost 3 now and he has never had one accident in the house. He has also had a stomach upset a couple times and he got up and ran to the door to be let out. He is an amazing smart dog.

I got a Australian Kelpie and she is nipping my teens but not me. I know about hunger, sleepiness, frustration and bathroom and of course teething...but geesh! She's trying to test us. I finally got her to use the bathroom pads where she will hold it and not use it outside until she gets to the pad 😂 however I do have her on bed schedule and feeding. I tested her this morning at 6am letting her out the crate and I don't say anything she goes right to the pad then walks to the kitchen and goes straight to her cabinet. I ignored her on purpose to make my coffee and she started barking at me like come on woman get my food. Lol 🤣 she ate and wanted to play cuz she started nipping and I open that crate door and also told her go potty she looked at me and walked to go lay down instead and fell out. Just now she whimpered as I was about to go throw garbage out and realized I left her crate open slightly and she pushed it open and helped herself to her pad to potty and went to lay down by the couch quietly. However, it's the biting. She bit thru some leashes and toys. IDK what will uphold her nipping skills. I know she's a natural herd dog but I want her to chill out stop or listen to nipping the family. She won't go as far with me cuz I'm stern. But she tries testing me. On March 6th she'll be 4months. I weighed her and she's 11.4 lbs. We got her a month ago at almost 2.5months and weighed 8.8lbs😒 #HELP ... #ADVICE PLEASESSSSS 🙏🏾 #iambeauteymafia 🌹

I absolutely love your videos!! Extremely informative, I can't wait for the potty training video. We got a rottweiler puppy 3 weeks ago. He is super smart and good , still struggling with potty in the house. He did learn sit, down, paw, other paw, stay, drop it, roll over, he will go in his crate when he's tired and at night , bring it here ( when we play with his toys) , he's Extremely well behaved on the leash (l'm using the same colar you got on your puppy). I was wondering when is the earliest you can introduce the remote colar? When we're home and outside, He doesn't listen too well, I get ignored until I come close to him, he's is only 10 weeks old so l'm not looking to start tomorrow, but is there a good time for it? Thank you!

Best way to help a puppy adjust to leaving mom and siblings is to first send a little blanket you slept with for a few nights to the breeder and have them put it with mom and siblings. Bring the blanket ( towel etc) home with him. Put him in the crate with the blanket. The smell of mom and siblings REALLY helps new puppies to settle. I have always done this with my puppies and they settle in quickly. They can identify with your scent because you slept with the blanket.

A little late to do this, but anyone reading this & bringing home a puppy, grab old towel and have your puppy’s litter mates crawl all over it, toss the towel in crate (or where your puppy will sleep), and he can snuggle with the smells of his litter mates. Tip 2: I can’t recommend this enough but there’s an actual stuffed animal called Snuggle Puppy with heart beat, between the old towel with litter mate smells and the snuggle puppy with heart beat, my puppy (3 year old standard poodle) went in his crate and not a peep out of him from the first night.

Love it Tom. It certainly resonated by you saying “oh my gosh why did I get a puppy” I was in my 50’s when I got Reddington, my beautiful red Dobie! Omgosh, I couldn’t believe I was putting myself through so much torture but here I am today with a 6 year old boy, who through your training techniques has turned out to be the absolute best companion I could possibly want. I love him with all my heart, I think he would walk through fire for me. He’s the best dog ever!

I'm really enjoying this series, just wish I had this information 14 months ago when I adopted my pup. I wasn't in the market for a dog let alone a puppy. Adopting her was one of the most impulsive things I had ever done. Those first few days were torture and had me questioning my sanity. One thing I did right was to crate train her. She loves her crate, it's her safe place. Looking forward to learning more as this series continues.

I am interested in seeing how this all goes. As a Dog Trainer for over 25 years, I started my KZfaq channel 8 months ago when I brought home Hudson my German Shepherd pup into a household of 8 other dogs so people could see a very different way of puppy raising/dog training! Over the last 25 years I have owned 52 dogs, most rescued, but raising 10 as puppies. Hudson has his own playlist! He is now coming to 10 months old and has been working in class since he was 4 months old. Every time I have brought a puppy home I have said "oh boy, I don't want to do this!" I tell my clients...I am not raising a puppy, I am raising the dog I want!

Our family hopes you enjoy your dog. We have a 1yr old male boerboel and he is possibly the best dog we've had. We waited 2 years for the breeder and it was worth it. He is attached to our 5 yr old child at the hip, loves the cat, and is devoted beyond belief. Stranger danger is built in, and he guards our homestead without prompt. Two big things with boerboels are they eat you out of house and home, and it's easy to get frustrated with what looks like a full-sized dog, but is only 4 months old. He's now 145 lbs. This is not a dog for everyone, but if you have the time/space, they are amazing

Crate training has been no problem at all but I'm using an old bed comforter as a cage cover over the three outward facing sides and the top, the cage is uncovered to the rear wall it's near. Looking forward to whatever comes next for you all. Cheers! 🍻

I love this. It’s nice and simple. We did very similar introduction of our puppy to our home a few months ago. I’m not your typical human though, I love the puppy stage, all of it, even potty training. People kept asking me how it was going at work (I’m a vet tech) and I was so excited to be doing puppy things. Especially at this young age. If I could just raise and train puppies I’d be in heaven. Honestly I think my taking care of sick animals all day has something to do with it, I’m already used to the constant clean up and management of pets so doing it with a healthy happy puppy where every experience is new and exciting is very enjoyable to me. Of course I also raise boxers and they are some of the easiest going dogs in my experience so maybe that’s why it’s so enjoyable as well.

Shes an Australian shepherd mix and during you talking and playing fetch with Lakota, I was dying laughing, the body language and focus on the fetch is so tunnel-visioned and serious! That same bringing the frisbee as close as she can to get another throw and following your arms and body language until she gets her fetch is so spot on 😂 My dog is 10 now and all the intelligence, drive, and energy is definitely still there! We love high energy breeds 🙌🏼

Great job. I've had the joy of owning Bull mastiffs and bull breeds over 25 years. Your approach and advice are spot on. I look forward to watching your lovely puppy grow, Boerboels are top of my list when we are able to take on another dog. Respect from the UK.

I just came across your channel researching training a puppy as I just purchased a Miniature Schnauzer. I grew up with dogs but my parents did the training, so this is my first pet, officially. Thank you for making these.

Really looking forward to this series! I was wondering if you'll talk on if you plan on neutering or not and the health implications on both ends? We recently got a pup and we are going to let her go through her first heat but we aren't sure if we should spay or not

Head spinning, yes! I got my puppy from the pound & she was amazing. She is extremely smart & eager to please so very easy to train (red heeler). But she’s so active, I felt she needed another dog to play with so I got her a 3 month old blue heeler mix puppy sister. She’s a beautiful dog, but not as clever & not as eager to please. Two puppies in the house = crazy! Now I have two messy, demanding, crazy, beautiful heelers. I adore them both & they’re good girls now that they’ve grown, but I went through the “what was I thinking” stages for sure. 😂

It's so refreshing seeing a professional dog trainer getting overwhelmed by puppy training. I remember my first few days when i brought a puppy home for the first time with zero dog experiance. I'm glad that i pushed through it even though i was close on giving up on him. he is now a little over a year old and a good boy.

My beagle is about 2 years old. I thought it would be easier with new pup but being older didn’t help. My first beagle was in a condo and now I’m in a house. I had my back and side yard landscaped. I didn’t realize my new pup would think the pebbles in his relief area were kibble! That was a rough time. What I didn’t do this time was let him sleep with us after being neutered. Our first one became protective with other dogs. He’s been great with other dogs and no issues at any dog park.

For me it took probably 6 months to really get into a flow. As soon as we accomplished one thing, like potty training, we had to work on another thing, like to much nipping while playing. Things like that. But by 6 months of age, we finally knew each other and he had learned most of the boundaries. And I also corrected a few mistakes I had made also.

Oh wow, of all the people to get to watch raise one of these guys! I'll admit I have an initial fear of this breed but my partner will be getting one in the future. Maybe watching you raise one will help me get past this fear!
