This video was supposed to be pure td5 sounds, with a load of popcorn limiter in there, however, I ran into an issue with my crankshaft sensor. It ruined the fun. I got it sorted in the end, and we will be doing part II of this video with some proper noise.
This defender is a 230bhp td5 defender. It has a race-spec VNT turbo from CR Turbos, a flat-out TD5Inside map from Jose, and lots of other bits and bobs. You can see the build in the other defender videos on the channel.

Small World! They do sound amazing. we have two and they both sound completely different. Big difference with a stainless exhaust vs steel.

Just said goodbye to my 110 TD5 today :'( But, I've got a 300 bhp p-pump Cummins 130 on the way - might need to give yous a wee race once it's done, although I'll probably get spanked! Anyways nicely shot lads, appreciated the lack of any wind noise you usually get on these sorta videos.

Have you got the read out for 230 hp? I doubt your getting that with a snorkel fitted but I could be wrong . I’ve got two of the last generation td5’s ones stage 3 twin cold air intake vnt s220 tt turbo big inter cooler all the rest of the nonsense very low mileage so it’s keen engine not like it’s worn out and I’m only getting 220 ish hp on the dyno

I drive a 2.5TDI at work, obviously not a TD5 but the turbo whistle and torquey feel are enough for me. Screams at high revs hahaha

Not fully tried it yet. I have a 1.2 transfer box in it though, so it restricts the pull slightly. Can get a video up soon

Your TD5 is not tuned properly (remap). I don't know who did it for you but way to much exhaust smoke, lots of smoke means not burning all the diesel correctly. My own TD5 has 250bhpish, no smoke. Look at Banks Powers take on how Diesels should be tuned (Banks has a very very long history of diesel tuning). I'm not saying he has a tune for a TD5 (he doesn't) I'm referring to the basic principles of diesel tuning. You need more DENSE AIR. As to the Limiter........yeah nar! Only fit for rice burner wannabes.

Are you a TD5 Specialist? - No. TD5 inside remapped it, I am more than happy, I chose how I wanted it to be, smoke or no smoke.

@@TheKooksGroup Actually yes, I restore TD5's in WA. I know you sure as shit aint, and td5inside are a bunch of cowboys, go learn how a diesel really makes power before you sound off like a knob.
