Pureed vegetables being delicious? Yup! Check out this simple trick to help naturally thicken a purée to add more flavor for dysphagia recipes.
Pureed diet recipe:
1/2 cup frozen vegetables
1/2 piece of bread (flavorful bread will add more taste!)
1/2 cup to 1 cup of water
1 teaspoon better than bouillon chicken or vegetable flavor
1/2 tbsp to 1 tbsp butter
Salt and pepper
Boil all ingredients except for salt and pepper until very soft (3-5 minutes).
Let cool.
Put all ingredients into a blender with salt and pepper and puree until smooth.
Put into a mold to make it as attractive as possible. Enjoy!
Having difficulty swallowing (dysphagia) can make meals a chore. Watching a family member with dysphagia struggle to eat unappetizing blobs of puree is difficult.
People with dysphagia can eat delicious food alongside you! Altering the texture doesn’t mean non-flavorful food. Using food molds and simple cooking techniques can make pureed food look and taste delicious. A pureed diet doesn’t mean boring! If you get a little creative, pureed food can be just as tasty as non-pureed food.
