Purina Allegations of ill and deceased pets…
THERE IS NO OFFICIAL RECALL AT THIS TIME. The FDA is still investigating and we will not have concrete answers until we hear from them. However, it’s irresponsible to ignore the hundreds of complaints and heart breaking stories of sick and deceased pets. We have seen massive recalls in the past and I do feel it’s our responsibility to at least make you aware of the POTENTIAL danger here.
If you have any experience with the pet food industry then you know that these allegations are NOT far-fetched and there is a substantial history of supply chain issues/contaminations and chronic illnesses/deaths. I HOPE that this does not end-up being the case BUT the possibility is there and therefore it is important that pet owners take necessary precautions or at the minimum are paying close attention to any changes in their pet’s health.
I’ve seen many many people concerned about changing their pets food due to potential digestive upset - this is NORMAL when your pet has been on one food, day in and day out with little to no variation for extended periods of time. The microbiome becomes less diverse and the digestive system only knows how to break down this one food - it resolves in a few days and can be mitigated with some help - digestive enzymes, we like @rxvitamins_official which can be purchased on Amazon as well as @adoredbeastapothecary. Use a diverse probiotic like @adoredbeastapothecary and psyllium husk (can be purchased at CVS - make sure the only ingredient is psyllium) , or gastro elm both will help to bulk up stool and ease the GI tract. IF YOUR PET SHOWS ANY SIGNS OF ILLNESS or change - take them to the vet to be safe.
If your pets are picky; cats should not go more than two days without eating, pick up a variety of foods to tempt them to consume food, even pieces of meat (without oils). Dogs can go a few days and 9 times out of 10, by the third day they will eat what you offer. I’ve heard rumblings that this may expand beyond Purina but we don’t know anything for sure; if it’s a supply chain issue your safest bet is foods that do not have the potential for the same sourcing - checkout Evermore Pet Food, Sundays, Raised Right, Viva, Steve’s Real Food.

i seen that video today about the purina chicken feed and how it has stopped the chickens from laying eggs.there really putting an effort into starving us. control the food and you control the people thats there motto.who said money doesn't rule.its the big corporations and banks that are set on ruling the world.governments are there tools

Our dog too .. refuses to eat the food which is uncharacteristic.. saw this and other reports .. decided to just toss this food .. he eats other food fine.. something does seem very wrong with the food

Im a new pet mom thank you. My baby wont be eating any Purina. Its so well known and the bag looks really good. Not knowing the dog world much I kept thinking about it but bought Redford Naturals instead because everyone at the store was steering me away from Purina...

There are no good commercial pet foods. We need to be cooking healthy meals for our pets. Please do research. Dr. Judy, a veterinarian that promotes real food for pets on YT offers great recipes. Our beloved Sam is gone now, partly due to commercial dog food. We tried to save him but we knew too little too late to save him. Our hearts are very broken. You don't want to be us. No human junk food and no commercial pet food products or treats. They deserve the very best

I’ve been feeding my Siamese Purina one Plus for awhile now without issues and also give my dog a small handful since he gets jealous…opened a new bag recently and they both got sick…my dog with diarrhea for 2 days now and my cat vomiting! I believe it’s the new bag of food!

Yeah my dog is 16 years old and I fed her for her whole life the cheapest Purina food and she still has all her teeth she could still jump up on the couch and that is amazing for a dog that age but she did develop allergies and that's expected for old animal

She gives GREAT advice here to neglect the issues with switching over to a different food. I do that for these stray cats ALL the time, I will not be paying top dollar, and I am not ashamed to say so. So far, these animals have fairly thrived, EVEN THOUGH I used to feed them Purina Fancy Feast, one of the cheapest brands out there. Never again.

Thank you for making this video. I knew something has been going on with her food. I just didn’t know what. i am trying to not feel emotional but I am! How can these dog food branded companies just get away with robbing people and animals?!?! I’ve been spending so much more money on this brand just to ensure my baby gets what she needs and deserves and then now to find out this dog food is literally killing animals?!?!?! I feel so livid! This is NOT ok!

I understand- it’s infuriating! Unfortunately though, the pet food industry is multi-billion dollar BUSINESS, a rather under-regulated one at that - I always like to keep that in mind. While people are becoming more aware and better brands are popping up more often we still have a longggg way to go as far as regulations and quality control. I hope your pets are doing okay ♥️

No, it's not ok. And we can learn to do better for our pets by cooking real foods, like meats and low carb, low oxalate veggies. Find Dr. Judy Morgan on KZfaq and she'll get you started with some basic recipes. You can fine tune things as you go.

I do t&n and have a colony in my yard. I have a few indoor kitties as well. I had to take my indoor cats ALL to the vet many times after they developed bloody diarrhea & vomiting. Purina did NOTHING short of send my coupons for more of that POISON 🤬🤬🤬

same here. I called to complain a few years back and also recently. They send me coupons for the same cr*p that's harming and killing the cats I feed. It's like they are trying to kill off as many animals as possible, like commie countries do.

My 5 Golden pups were eating Purina puppy chow from a new bag on a Friday.Saturday am all had the runs and were lethargic.Took my male to the ER.Dehydrated and sick.This was Sat am.Got home and on Sunday we took one of our females was very sick.She needed up all day at the ER.So when our personal vet opened we dropped off another female.They all were at the vet all week.Pirina offered me coupons…I had 3 k in vet bills.Bring a lawyer I explained what steps I was taking to expose them.They sent a check…no more Purina

Sadly I have 3 dogs, LGD at farm, one house dog and one back yard dog, they all have bone cancer and TSC brand dog food is all they have ever eaten, I’m sick and mad

My dogs have been eating Purina one. They also eat homemade meats and veggies. One dog was deathly Ill with what we thought was salmon poisoning, but recovered quickly with antibiotics and anti-inflammatory meds. It seemed to me she recovered unusually fast for having salmon poisoning. What are the symptoms of what dogs are experiencing from eating dog food please. This is very important missing info.Thank you for anymore information.😮

Hi Elain, I did not include symptoms because there have been hundreds of reports and many people were experiencing different symptoms, each dog is different and can respond differently and at this time I believe if your dog is experiencing anything out of the norm while eating one of their foods they should be taken to the vet immediately. So things have been noted ranging from; bloody vomit/diarrhea, seizures, refusing food, death, etc.

All three of mine had diarrhea, started with my toy ( i am assuming because he is small) no blood i believe if I hadn’t taken him to the vet he would have died. , a few days later with my standards, The younger girl had it uncontrollably so you can imagine what my floors looked like.

No such thing as salmon poisoning, maybe you mean salmonella? Which is a bacterial infection that can happen in any food.

@@lillieberger2883Salmon Poisoning is actually a real illness and different from Salmonella - SPD is a bacterial infection from contaminated fish from the Pacific.

My cat eats Purina Cat Chow Gentle (and I also give her wet food daily). She is scratching where her fur under her neck is gone. I brought her to the vet and vet assumes allergies. I thought maybe her teeth are bothering her. Now im wondering if its this food?!!!

Yes, he's doing better. We changed food immediately, got him an injection at vet, which did nothing, really. I'm pretty sure it was the regular supply of organic ACV that cleared him up.@@ABalancedCanine

Does this include the Purina OM Veternary Subscription Diet food? My dog has been eating this food for 14 years and has not had an issue. My cat has been on the Canine version of this food 7 years without any problems. I’ll be very interested in the results of this investigation.

I usually have about a two month supply of cat food. About 7-8 weeks ago I had to buy canned cat food. My cats favorite is the salmon pate. My cats have been eating purina for since they were kittens. They are 9 and 11 years old. When I opened the first can they sniffed their dishes and backed away and refused to eat it. After going through 8 cans and throwing the food away, I took the other 52 cans and returned them.. I've been making their food. I bought two cans yesterday thinking it might have been an issue w/a specific batch. It isn't the case. They sniffed it and back away again refusing to even taste it. I know that pet food companies tweak their formulas from time to time and was thinking this might be what was going on.

My Dog has IBD I moved him to the vegetable one about 2 months ago, and he has diarrhea on it immediately, now I've chalked this up to his IBD as has his Vet...however, i've been mixing it with his other food and then stool is mostly normal....thank you for the headsup on this...ugh, this pisses me off when pet food makers just try to get by as cheap as pawsible....I will stop the food now just in case

Hi! I also own a dog with IBD and we frequently help people with this during Nutrition Coaching. Many IBD clients see a lot of success with Carna 4 food! I’ll be honest, it’s quite pricey but all very clean ingredients and easily digestible for IBD dogs. You just have to make sure to a do a very very gradual transition, and there are some digestive aids that can help ease the first couple of weeks!

@@ABalancedCanine Ok, I see it's really expensive, 225 for a 22 lb bag...that's about double the cost I've been paying for a similar size....how secure is the supply chain in this brand of food...as I ran into so issues iwth Royal Canin where they couldn't get the venison..I will call their Cust service and ask them

@@other4819 the quality of the ingredients that they use far exceed what we’re used to seeing in conventional “kibbles” for one they don’t use any rendered meat products which Purina and Royal Canin use almost exclusively, they’re all human grade whole food ingredients, secondly it does not go through the harsh extrusion process of a kibble either, it’s baked at a low temperature, and they don’t use ANY synthetic supplement premixes. I urge you to take a look at your current foods ingredient list and then look at Carna 4s, it’s quite remarkable a simple 8-10 whole food ingredients instead of 30-50 rendered and synthetic ingredients. If the current food crisis is a supply chain issue it’s important to look at foods that don’t use similar ingredients, especially synthetic vitamin premixes as a lot of companies typically source ingredients from the same suppliers. IMO I feel Carna4 is a much much safer choice at this time than anything we can purchase at petco or the grocery store. I’ll still be using this for my own as needed :)

I had a very healthy cat who loved her food she would sit and wait for it ,then in March 2021 Purina change the recipes she became that never went to the vets apart from her yearly check up which she passed after becoming ill after eating Purina Felix New recipe when they changed or add something to the recipe , she became a cat that was never away from the vet after having many test done her liver function was off the scale the ultra sound confirmed cancer she had liver failure and cancer her condition was manged by steroids' Very sadly she lost the fight for her life on the 5 th February 2024 she had shut down over that weekend on the Monday we knew we would not be bring Ruby home we had to make the heartbreaking decision to let her go the rainbow bridge the cancer had spread to her lymph glands , Ruby was the most quite unamusing little cat and had she not been victim of Purina food she would still be enjoying her life instead she is in a little casket Thank you for making the video

My rescue kitten was sick for a week off of Purina pro plan back in January. Nothing but diarrhea and vomiting. We took her off and put her on wellness. Fast forward to February and 4 of my other friends cats had gotten sick one passed away all from Purina food. I tried telling my friends to get the animals off. That their food has a lot of garbage in it it's not good for them to eat. Purina wants to call everything going on mass hysteria and rumors but how can you call a bunch of people liars when they're having pretty much the same experiences and they're finding even bugs in the food. My friend found bugs in her Purina One bad food. Everyone switched to wellness unfortunately it was too late for one of my friends cats and that one passed the other ones are doing a lot better now that they switched

I feel the same way. I’ve just deeply been struggling with how to get my star the vitamins and minerals she needs. I’ve noticed she wouldn’t eat her food pro+ at all. So I switched to beneful incredibites and beneful chopped meals and the medleys and she eats like crazy but literally is losing weight and her face looks very slim and she is always fatigued. She went from 40 pounds in October, and now her scale showed 22 pounds today. I’ve been so emotional today because I don’t know what dog food is the best for her. I’ve been searching these suppose to be best dog brands of dog food and when I looked at all of the ingredients. They were literally all of the same. I’ve been searching and watching vet video and most state that peas are not good for dogs and yet most Brands contain peas. i think I am going to purchase smart pet today and see how she does with it and see if she likes it.

@@hopefullystandinginthesun999 No commercial dog food is good. NONE. You should check out Dr. Judy Morgan's KZfaq channel. She provides some free recipes. You can get a vitamin and mineral supplement that gets mixed in depending on what recipe you use, as the blends are a complement to the particular meat and veggies. My dog has kidney disease and was hot, so he ate ground beef cooked with low oxalate and low carb veggies. About 50 percent meat to 50 percent veg, then I had herbal kidney supplements, nutritional yeast and seaweed powder I added in for extra nutritional support. We had a holistic veterinarian who also practiced Chinese veterinary medicine. She was wonderful.

As someone who was a Hills veterinary rep for 34 years I find this Purina issue suspicious. I am no fan of Purina mainly because they make some really great diets but also some really lousy ones. They have the resources to be more consistent. But how strange reports seem to not be on a particular diet or even brand. (Purina sure has enough!) but if there were an error in the mix or some type of contamination in a specific ingredient it wouldn’t be so widespread. The new pet food marketing is very aggressive and nasty and often totally false but convincing. I can’t argue with being careful. Maybe if i were feeding Purina I’d be switching. I guess time will tell. I’m just getting skeptical about everything these days!

if all the ingredients are sourced from the same place it makes total sense my guy was on hills and having horrible stomach issues….. that haven’t stopped despite script diets…. and all 3 are on the do not feed list now i’m concerned enough to just cook for my guy and these hydrolyzed diets using chicken feathers as a protein?!?! i’m sorry but for the price those foods cost they better have real meat, not just trash body parts

@@JErmel well, most veterinarians and especially board certified vet nutritionists would disagree with you. Sometimes when we don’t know a topic we should look at the people with knowledge rather than people just trying to sell you something. The thousands and thousands of sick animals who have benefited from those three companies research and expertise would also disagree with you if they could talk. Personally what I saw every day for 34 years was pretty awesome if you’re an animal lover.

@@Ashley-vm1bd yes, if the same ingredient was sourced from the same place. To be clear, I have not been following this but it appears many brands are involved. If true then no one has caught this over a long period of time. Most events can be traced to specific times. As far as Hills, obviously many folks experience very different results. Both Science Diet and Prescription Diet. That’s great you care enough to cook for your guys! Really! Just make sure you have a recipe from a credible source so it’s balanced. As far as chicken feathers, you’re talking aboutRoyal Canin Ultimino. I know. I scoffed at it too. But the science is there and it has helped lots of animals. The Hills hydrolyzed ZD has a better nutrient profile and uses hydrolyzed chicken.

They have reformulated the Fancy Feast varieties and they are gross--gray with a dark sediment at the bottom of every can. First seafood, now poultry. They claim it is not insect protein ( maggots, right?). Chewy sent me a sarcastic letter lightning fast in response to my inquiry about it so I know they had other inquiries. I have sampled every brand I can find and honestly, it all seems like garbage, even the expensive brands.

I had a 2yr old hound die on her bday,,her sister just died 6 months later,,got a 13 month old hound from different family now shes passing blood,im switching food tomorrow,,carried both dogs that died to vet and they said liver failure,

Personally I don’t and wouldn’t feed my dog Purina. I make her food so I know exactly what she’s eating. Dry kibble I keep on hand is by Open Farm and Carna 4.

Maybe a wolf can handle raw meat in all sorts of raw stuff but we have domesticated dogs they're not wild the only way to keep them safe is to make sure that it's cooked food and you could cause serious harm if you put onions in it by accident or other types of ingredients that could be very harmful and poisonous. Raw meats have pathogens bacterias in all sorts of things that could cause harm not to mention if you're leaving chicken bones in there and it stabs their insides or gets stuck in there esophagus

They have a production plant in c.h.i.n.a now.. Thats not a place you want your food to be made much less your pets.

I threw out the dry food. I bought several cases of can foods. I hope that if there is a problem with the food, Purina should pay us back.

My dogs were eating Purina one, so it, has not made them sick but they don't look healthy, they use too , but something ,has change, and I noticed they were no more large pieces of dry meat in the bag, a little bit was all..there fur was not shiny any more, I also was using Purina cat food for years, my cats love it they look good on it, but I am afraid to buy any more, so tomorrow we are going to find something different..I am feeding all of my fur babies home made, what I eat they eat..

I have several dogs. I opened a new bag of chicken flavor. One dog ate it, and the other would not eat for 2 days. The one that ate it died the following day. Now my best friend is dead, and I'm stuck with 44 pounds of poison dog food. Thanks, I will never use purina again.

Hi David - I’m going to do another video as soon as I have more substance to report. Right now people are reporting a variety of Nestlé products are causing illness. Wish we had more conclusive answers but there are many volunteers and vets working tirelessly right now to consolidate everything and get more information so hopefully soon!

I bought two bags of TSC dry dog food and none of our dogs would eat it, I went back to store to complain and they said it all had been recalled.. now I have three dogs with bone cancer and all there life they have eaten green bag TSC food

My dog eats Purina One & she has some stomach issues, but it’s the only food she will eat. She eats Chicken & Rice.

My two cats had really bad diarrhea and vomiting from eating Purina dry food all of a sudden. I immediately stopped feeding them Purina and I'm giving them Nine Lives dry now but also feeding them a lot of canned food too.

@@patches7828 Nine Lives didn't make them sick so it must be ok. It's not on the list of tainted or contaminated dry food. Neither is Iams on the list so I bought a bag of it this morning after work because they had already eaten the small bag of Nine Lives.

I’ve heard some horrible stories from 9Lives - we have a friend that lost 3 cats quite randomly and attributes it to the food. Check the ingredients - they’re not very good.

@@ABalancedCanine Thank you for your info. It is funny but I actually couldn't find anymore Nine Lives kibbles in the stores so I bought Iams sensitive digestive system variety. I won't buy anymore Nine Lives even if I can find it again. I have a 7 year old female cat named Penny who I adopted when she was 2 years old and Iams is all her original owners fed her so she won't eat just wet food only so that is why I am still buying dry kibbles. My 5 year old male cat named Tigger loves the wet food rather than the kibbles but I adopted him when he was a kitten so my ex & I bought a lot of wet food for him. They can't digest wet food which contains milk & sometimes the wet food that contains gravy messes with their sensitive digestive systems.

We had 2 doga on Blue dog food and they both got pancreatitis. It just seem kind of on then I started making their food and then they were all right after they were in the hospital. I don’t trust any dog.

Hi, I’m so glad your pets are doing well off of homemade!! Kibble is by nature very inflammatory and sometimes removing it and feeding Whole Foods (as long as it’s complete and balanced) can do wonders! Thanks for sharing your experience!

Hi - there have been many symptoms but the majority of people have been noting in the Facebook group that their pets experienced; lethargy, bloody vomiting/diarrhea, food refusal, seizures and deaths.

@ABalancedCanine Our dog has been on Purina Pro Plan Beef & Rice for about a year now. He has a very sensitive stomach and this canned food finally agreed with him and he loves it. We probably tried no less than a dozen dry dog foods and long story short, our dog is just a dog that eats canned food better with no stomach upset. I have ordered FROMM Venison & Beef canned dog food. Although I saw a couple of ingredients that kind of bothered me, they were much better than Purina Pro Plan and yes, it is kind of a pain transitioning from one dog food to another (we should be pros at it by now), but it is worth it for our sweet dog not to get sick and we are not waiting for that day to come. I loved that Fromm is family owned and they were very friendly and answered all my questions. Purina now scares me and I pray no more animals get sick and/or die and the cause is found soon. Thank you for all your reviews and education. I love your videos!

My cat seems to be addicted to Purina. He refuses Royal canine and President choice. Refuse chicken meat or beef cooked or uncookef.

Hi - this is quite normal for cats. They imprint on foods at a young age which is basically their way of figuring out what is safe to eat and so it can be very tricky to move cats to another food. I would suggest offering a variety for now to see what they like until you can take the time to safely transition to a different food. You don’t want cats to go several days without eating, they can get sick from elevated enzymes.

felix pouches , go cat biscuits and gourmet gold have purina printed in small letters above products,they are some of the food i used for my 4 cats .i stopped buying these products a month ago after hearing from a vet that 16 dogs at a rescue centre had died instantly after eating purina ,also an elderly man lost his 4 dogs after eating purina .after hearing from another vet that purina refused to do anything about it or have a proper investigation.i stopped buying anything with the name purina. i believe there dping this on purpose as there is no room for pets in the N.W.O which they want to accomplish by 2030.its pure EVIL

The only cat food I buy is Purina products because they are the only company with the least recalls ( if any). My two cats lived to 17 years old with ONLY having Purina products, and now my never ending eating 18 pound 4-year-old cat continues to have Purina products without issues. Tik Tok? The place to go for drama, misinformation, and the place that (more or less) tells the public it's ok to shave your healthy real teeth down to get veneers?? This is our go to news now??? When all the feathers settle on this, I can see some real drama coming from this event.

Respectfully - they have a SLEW of recalls and there are plenty of pet food options that have none - secondly, this didn’t happen on tik tok? A group of pet owners and veterinarians noticed the connection and are working tirelessly to keep everyone informed. I’m glad you’re not having issues, and I hope you don’t have any - but there are hundreds of pet parents that are and we shouldn’t discredit their experiences.

I agree. I have been feeding Purina for many years for the same reason you stated without problems. However, I have noticed a couple recalls in the past year but they were Pro Plan recalls and I don't use that product. There is a downturn in the U.S. that is involving monetary concerns resulting in companies having to make hard choices and perhaps cutting corners. It's concerning for pets and people combined. Of course, cooking your own pet food is the ideal, however, it would require adding a vitamin supplement. I cooked for my dogs after I retired and they loved it. If you cook enough to make several meals and freeze them, you can do that on the weekend. My recipe was hamburger or turkey burgers, rice and carrots or peas. Or you could get a carrot & pea mix. Careful with the rice as it's more of a filler than nutrition. Maybe a cup cooked for lge dog, less for smaller. I hope all these issues with pet food gets resolved soon. Have a good day. ❤❤

my honda CRV has been in the shop for 9 weeks waiting for a part that the civics have recalled.,….. people have called me crazy for speaking up…. i’m inclined to believe the pet owners over big for profit corporations 🤷🏼‍♀️

@Ashley-vm1bd exactly, why would people make it up? There has been lots going on within the pet industry for some time now. I have seen chemical burns on pets from spot on flea treatments.
