Purnululu National Park is a spectacular and beautiful UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. Famous for the Bungle Bungle Range, a large area of beehive-shaped cone karst formations with their striking orange & black stripes, Purnululu National Park is one of Australia's most impressive natural sights. It's hard to believe that Purnululu National Park was barely known outside the local area until the 1980s! Unfortunately our ground level transport had some mechanical issues, but we were still able to see the Bungle Bungles in style: via helicopter.
Many thanks to Luke & Caitlyn of Inspired to Explore for generously allowing us to use some of their ground level footage from the national park. Be sure to check out their KZfaq channel (kzfaq.info/love/-89qCd3FmNrg7LeSMpzc1w), and their Instagram ( inspired.to.explore) for more awesome outback adventures.

In 25 January 2023, UNESCO listed Odesa in Ukraine, Rachid Karami International Fair in Lebanon, and Landmarks of ancient kingdom of Saba in Yemen as world heritage sites, and at the same time defined them as endangered world heritage sites. This tells us an important message that the early listing of these cultural properties is a special case of urgency.

Purnululu National Park is an extraordinary series of banded honeycomb cone-shaped towers formed by the Bungle Bungle Mountains, and its unique natural beauty is in line with Criteria VII : Superlative Natural Phenomena and Exceptional Natural Beauty. Give a like and stay safe.

Wow! Was the helicopter ride expensive? Which other sites have you seen in a chopper and would you recommend it more than going on the ground (this honestly looks so much cooler!)

This is the only one so far, and a lot of people do it via helicopter (or via fixed-wing plane from Kununurra, the nearest town) simply because it's so remote. It wasn't cheap but not too bad, maybe about $400 AUD I think?
