The camera person had to have been within arms reach. It was my first time seeing Taj play live. Not only did he blow me away, but the drummer was good too, and entertaining to watch. My wife got a selfie with Taj afterward. He has a pleasant, friendly, personality.

As I was once a decades long Prince -fan since highschool before Jesus Christ came into my life as well as an ASCAP member once being sought after by Warner Bros Records etc and having been taught ( but not taking it seriously )as a kid in Kansas City ,Mo by the late great jazz/blues guitarist Sonny Kenner , I just wanted to say I check in on the progress of Taj every now and then and at almost 57 ( the age Prince died) I could never play as good as Taj when he was even seven yrs old ,lol Taj is a Master Guitarist at 15 ! ( I believe his Father taught him after Taj told him he wanted to play guitar while at a concert at like 4 yrs old if im not mistaken) ; Like Taj ,I was considered a prodigy at one time in pre -school as other kids watched Sesame Street & Cartoons ,but my teacher in the 70s told my parents that I would take out the staff record player and put on 45s and albums in another area of the school listening and singing along to Jim Croce,Louis Armstrong ,Elvis and the Carpenters to name a few, so I totally get Taj 's love for music at a young age . I think back to the 80s when I was a kid walking around with my Strat or Acoustic on my back( and was reading music back then too before I realized I was good at playing by ear ) in camo pants and Prince & Elvis etc T -Shirts in highschool wanting to be the next Prince,Terrance Trent D'arby ,Eddie Van Halen ,Neil Schon ,Allen Collins of Skynyrd, Brian Adams ,SRV, etc and every time i see a video of Taj it transports me back to the 80s & 90s as his dream use to be my dream of playing music as a lifestyle ; Though I never mastered or came close to on any of the 20 or so instruments i use to play, I have had the experience of perfoming once onstage with Morris Day & the Time (moreso for my dancing abilities and Prince immitation of directng his bands in marathon jams and the kindness of Morris and Jerome Benton noticing my talent in front of the stage ) as well as befriending the now late Denise Matthews aka Vanity , who became my big sister in Jesus Christ . I had the opportunity of seeing Prince in concert five times ,and the Time six times , as well as doing an impromptu visit to Paisley Park before being escorted out by security as Prince laughed hysterically in his window as i dropped my demos all over his yard and lot; later on I sent him a song which he and his lawyer at the time ,Londell McMillen ,promptly rejected but not too long after Prince sent me a cassette of a song called ,"War" which was strange considering there was more Peace in the World overall at the time ( I was one of only 100 people in his NPG club to get "War"). Seeing that the birthday of Prince is less than a week away I also wanted to share that at an old bargain record store in Westport of KC yrs ago now defunct , they had a giant white fur rug of Prince & the Revolution posing for the Rasberry Beret 45 Cover for sale on the ceiling , it cost a hundred or so bucks , so I told the owner I would buy it my next payday , the next few weeks I got paid and ran into the store to buy the rug as Prince was in town that week for a concert ,perfect timing so I thought ; but when I looked up at the Ceiling , the rug was Gone ! I screamed out aloud in the store Where is my Rug? ! And the Mgr on duty stated that Prince himself had come into the store (out of all the gazillion music stores in KC he couldve shopped, it had to be this one ,go figure ) with his entourage and had become upset( though he liked the rug) because he had not authorized the rug ( at the time he was also selling his stuff in his NPG club online and by catalogue and mail order , of which one of his items for sale he had the greatest smelling perfume/cologne on the planet called Pheromone ,which caused a married woman one day to say aloud while I was wearing it to tell her husband while we stood in a long dollar general line , to get himself what I was wearing because she could not resist it ,lol ,she was sniffing me up and down too, as was the usual effect I got from folks when I wore it around town ; Prince discontinued Pheromone for some reason though shortly after) . I have a few more Prince stories but it would take too long to rehash.but I can say definitely that Taj is the kind of musician that Prince had respect for because Taj learned his instrument skillfully and his teacher ( s) took the time to show him the notes, progressions ,etc( Prince guitarist Wendy Melvoin of the Revolution alledgedly sucked initially on guitar( during the Purple Rain era beginning ) but practiced so hard over time and got so good that Prince admired her skil, work ethicl and penchant for songwriting along with piano prodigy Lisa Coleman that he gave them more access to his musical prowess and collaboration than his other proteges and peers ) but Ive also watched hours of Taj practicing his skill in countless videos and I am amazed each and every time at his dedication to learning playing guitar Masterfully ,something even I as an old man can still only dream about . Taj , if you see this I want you to appreciate the gift you have been given by God ,thats why its called God -given talent , but also I hope you at least examine the path you take from here on out that people like the lates Little Richard and James Brown even on his deathbed ,as well as Justin Beiber,Alice Cooper etc are now choosing for the betterment of their lives ; that path being Jesus Christ ,the Son of God who died for our sins .
