New tires! General Altimax RT45 on our 2014 Chevy Volt. There are a few key reasons I chose these Altimax RT45 tires 215/55/R17 size for the car. I review that in this video.

We live in Northwestern PA and have around 70 Acres of Land, in the middle of family homestead land from more than 4 generations back. We have one daughter, one rescued Great Dane, and one cat. We enjoy working on our property and making improvements. We enjoy tractors, chainsaws, splitting firewood, rural living, and all purple collar life projects. Our day jobs are primarily white collar job, but our rural life is full of blue collar and purple collar activity. #purplecollarlife

Thank you for this review. I'm about to have 2 of this exact tire mounted on my car tomorrow and after reading other reviews found you video. Very helpful with good points! BTW, customer reviews predominately say these tires are a quiet ride as well.

They are made here in Southern Illinois where I live, at Continentals Mount Vernon plant. They are great tires!

The way this is presented on the google search engine, it presents your goodyear assurance review points as the review points of the RT45's. it's a bit confusing so I moved over to youtube and watched the rest of the review. It wouldn't hurt to rename this video as a comparison instead of a single review. Thanks for the upload

Just ordered a set 225/60R/18 for my 2020 Nissan Rouge SV FWD. For this size it weighs 24.22lbs 700 treadwear(75K mile rating) Traction A and Temperature A. I've had the Altimax older designs on our impala's and taurus's and had good service from them.

I ordered a set of these today 5/22 for my 2000 Mustang in 225/60 R15. They weigh 21.8lbs per tire. That's really light compared to other brands. I looked up your size and, yeah, it's 24.22lbs. Very lightweight tires. I guess that's a good thing. I'll have mine installed next Tuesday 5/28. Let me know how you like your's. Thanks.

When it comes to your safety and the safety of your children. I would personally give up a some mileage economy all day long! I have a 2003 F-250 with 70K on it. I replace tires because they are too old and not worn out. Dry rot is another enemy of tires as they get old. Great video. I look forward to the performance.

Well said! I probably would have gone with a less expensive version if I were just shopping for tires for something I'm driving around. In fact, I probably would have just "made due" with the tires that were on it for one more summer. But when it's Mackenzie in the car - I wanted a good reliable and safe set of new tires for her.

Good talk. Now snow demo it. I had the General Ultimax rt43. They were great, quiet an grippy. Im buying the new ones rt45, next.

The tread on these seems like it would be pretty good in snow. But we run dedicated winter tires on the Volt in the winter months. We get some pretty heavy Lake Erie snow up here in NW PA and want to make sure we have the best contact with the road possible. All-Season tires just can't complete with a dedicated winter tire in our climate.

No disrespect, but, if you are concerned about driving in snowy conditions you might be better served looking for a dedicated snow tire made specifically for those road and temperature conditions.

Just an FYI, I got a big screw in my General RT 43s (Got good mileage out of them, replacing with 45s on Friday) but I didn't find the screw for almost a month. Tire maintained very well even with the screw in it for a couple hundred miles (don't do this!) This is why I am going with the 45s. I had an overall great experience with rt43s (Quiet ride, excellent handling and responsive steering) and hope for at least the same with rt45s.

I own a 2013 Honda Fit Sport and will need new tires soon. I have maintenance performed at a Chrysler dealership only 2 blocks away. For other than routine maintenance such as re-calls I will of course use the Honda dealership 25 miles away. The Chrysler shop recommended the General tire you reviewed. And the General tires will be my choice! Total price inc. alignment and mount $780.00. And don't you think a heavier tire will have a better ride, especially over a rough surface. Thank You from Bill on the Mississippi Rever in Winona, MN. And with some of the best trout streams in the USA.

Glad I could help! I like these better than the Pirelli's so far. Now we do have only less than 8,000 miles on them at this point - so I'm not sure about the longevity. But so far, so good! The Pirelli's were also way better than the Goodyears we originally had.

I've had the Genral AltiMAX RT43 tires, they had treadwear/mileage warranties up to 65,000 Miles and compared to the General AltiMAX RT45 up to 75,000 Miles! I own a 2016 Toyota Camry SE Tire Size: P215/55R17

What was the original tread Depth brand new? 0:37 I think yours are 10/32. I just checked my brand new set and Mine are reading 10/32. The spec sheet says 11/32 so not sure

I prefer the general gmax as-05s. I live in Florida, so snow traction is not a concern.

Should we register our tires? I bought these tires after looking at this video. Hopefully, we get the tires on time because we have a trip to Canada next weekend. I am not great at choosing tires when there are so many options.

I would register the tires, if they aren’t already registered. Our tire dealers register them for us.

We did lose some range - but it's nearly impossible to determine if that range loss came from the new tires, a new driver (our teenage daughter), or the age of the batteries and some slight battery degradation.
