Can we get a full run on the bottom 7 jumps of Rampage?
Rampage is an insane jump trail at the Goat Farm near Perth, Western Australia. It has a total of 17 jumps ranging from 21 to 40 feet in length.
We’ll be aiming to ride all of the jumps after the 35 foot moon-booter:
- 24ft step-down,
- 23ft right to left shark fin
- 33ft left hip
- 35ft right hip
- 40ft step down
- 22ft right shark fin
- 28ft double
Thanks to ‪@sweaty_techie‬ , ‪@elijah_outback‬ , Hamish, Anton and Darran for an awesome day.

Inspiring! This is what makes mtb the best sport, you first see something like rampage and think you'll never be able to hit it and then you can eventually work your way up and get there! Great vid as always mate.

Everyone making this so easy It's great to see a story with some of the discussions (and hesitations!) around making big things happen included. It's just missing the many hours of riding practice every week to get to the point that riding a trail like this for the first time can go off smoothly... (some short landings making for big cases, and aborted runs resulting in high-speed off-trail excursions is still smooth compared to many of the possible outcomes [that's a smooshed face]). @RyanDillonMTB you've definitely been putting in the effort. @hamishc.s3777 mentions "mind tricks" but that's totally the way it should be! It's the people that don't consider the consequences that end up injured and off the bike the most, and if it wasn't for the adrenaline kick would we even bother with stuff like this? Good work mate; understanding the consequences, hesitating, testing, thinking, comparing to your skills and experience, then riding only when you have no doubt is going to get you to "crazier" things. Riding high-consequence stuff and taking risks do not need to be synonymous.
@RyanDillonMTB
@RyanDillonMTB Жыл бұрын
Ha ha, yes that is exactly the kind of face I was worried about! 😅 Some wise words there in regards to risk taking. I often find it hard to judge whether I have the skill or not, but it definitely helps being able to study other riders and see what they are doing. Thanks again for your help and great to ride with you as always!

It's not too bad, the lip is fine, but when you think you have enough speed, throw in a couple more pedals. Pretty hard to go too deep, but easy to case. Good luck!

@RyanDillonMTB
@RyanDillonMTB Жыл бұрын
Hey mate, thanks for the comment! Other than convincing your friends to take it up (I'm sure you've tried!) you could post up on one of the mtb groups (KMBC, WA mtb) and just saying you're heading out for a ride and happy for company. Other than that, the KMBC monthly social rides are a really good way to meet people, and to learn the trails. Good luck and have fun!

@@RyanDillonMTB the on off is really easy 🤙 the speed you land with from the corner double will carry you on and off perfectly. It’s that double out of the corner after on and off that’s a real tester but if you get it then the big shark fin is nothing. I had a big crash on the double before first moon booter. Over jumped the double before top moon booter and missed corner and went straight over the berm head first off the edge. Smashed 3 front teeth. 6 stitches in chin and about 10 stitches in my knee. Smashed front off my full face helmet👎 haven’t been up the top since tho watching Elijah is gettin me amped to give them a crack again! Good luck with the on off on your next trip out there 🤙
@RyanDillonMTB
@RyanDillonMTB Жыл бұрын
Oh wow that sounds like a massive off, sorry to hear it. Thank god you were wearing a full-face hey? Hate to think how much worse it could have been.. crazy how fast you have to be going at the point, with not a lot of room for error. Thanks for the advice re the on-off, will def give that a go next time, not sure about the jump after though ha ha
@mickl8355
@mickl8355 Жыл бұрын
Yeah it was a fox proframe full face. Smashed the chin part straight down the middle. I learnt if doing that sort of stuff to buy a down hill rated helmet and it probably would of prevented loosing teeth. The fox rampage comp is what I got and is basically motor bike helmet and is 100percent stronger. You’ll do the on off easy if your doing the bottom part 🤙 yeah the one after on off I did not do for ages and first go cased an busted a rim. You can’t brake at all after that on off and carry every bit of speed around that berm. I don’t think it’s possible to over jump as it’s a struggle to get just enough speed as it is.
@RyanDillonMTB
@RyanDillonMTB Жыл бұрын
And here I was thinking that the proframe was downhill rated! 😬 The first time I saw that jump you could see where it had been fifty fifty'd, scary stuff. Maybe one day ha ha. Cheers!
