It was Friday on my lunch break when I called the National Forest Service Office in Cass County. They informed me the Wood Tick Trail was open to vehicles under a 4-ton axel weight. With that being said, I still found the road to be in poor condition. There was a point when I thought the camper was going to fall out!
I actually found this campsite by watching KZfaq. I first saw Eric camping here about 5 years ago and more recently Murry was here trying to catch a few trout. I'll have to watch that one again. He may have been with Mav, they go fishing together a lot.
There was a bit of disappointment when I arrived and found the campsite was occupied. I had to drive into the campsite to turn around, so I was able to talk with the camper. He was a really cool guy. He explained he was leaving early the next morning. He said it would be ok if I set up camp next to him because it was getting dark. That was really cool of him to offer, but I found a spot not to far away. The following morning, I checked back at the campsite, and he was gone. He was the only person I saw all weekend.
I had a great time at this campsite. The views from the walking trials were beautiful. I hope you enjoy this spot.
