I had a chance to meet and interact with Harry at L.A. Beatlefests. Harry's final Beatlefest in 1992, we invited him up to our hotel room to watch game 6 of the World Series. Harry stayed for over an hour, and was willing to sign all of the LP covers I brought along. Harry also told stories of each of the album covers... sadly, no one videotaped this encounter... Anyway, Harry is loved and missed, and most assuredly deserves enshrinement into the R & R Hall of Fame...

While I was getting Harry's autograph on Aerial Ballet we were arguing about gun ownership,eventually Harry took his sunglasses off looked me in the eye and said "well that's my opinion"....That is Rock and Roll.

I tried to spread the news... Induct Harry into the R&R Hall of Fame! But nobody seems to care and have forgotten him, or don't even know of him. I found Harry and his music 4 years ago and I think he is fantastic! I feel I have seen the light, and other people's eyes are closed. They are missing out!

These artists are still not "IN" the R&RHOF but should have been when first eligible, Harry, Nick Cave & the bad seeds, Marianne Faithfull, Joe Jackson (another musical genius), STYX, King Crimson & Al Stewart. It's not who's talented its who they can induct that can keep them trending & 'relevant" .

To be perfectly honest, it is an utter disgrace that he is not already in it. Having a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame without Nilsson is like sex with oneself - interesting and briefly satisfying but hardly the real thing.

it might have been nice 10 or 15 years ago (or better yet, while he was still amongst us - his first year or two eligible), but the HoF has kinda turned into a silly, arbitrary exercise in inclusion and exclusion that's only real value is in getting a varied group of music-makers to put on a show once a year. Some others remaining "unworthy": Steve Miller, Chicago, Joe Cocker, Warren Zevon, Boz Scaggs, Three Dog Night, the Guess Who, Ian Dury, and of course, the Monkees. Some of these folks (including Harry) are known for having a decent dose of good humor in their work, but the HoF decision makers seem to take themselves very seriously. I thought there'd been an exception to this when KISS made the cut, but if you saw Tom Morello's induction speech you realized that, no..... they actually thought their music was as significant as the packaging and the marketing. So if it happens and the Nilsson family appreciates it.... great. Otherwise at best it can spread the Harrylove to some young'uns who might still be unaware.

the RHOF has been horseshit for over 25 years now but our beloved Harry Nilsson will make it in to the RHOF sooner or later....we just have to wait for the OK from the young panel (age 18 to 23) who believe inducting artist's like Justin Bieber, Snoop Dog, Miley Cyrus, Drake and The Cookie Monster...MUST COME BEFORE HARRY!!

Harry Nilsson was a great singer, but thanks to a lot of drug usage back in the day, his voice started to change, up to the point where he seriously wrecked his vocal cords during the recording sessions for his 1974 album Pussy Cats, a covers album he did with John Lennon. But Nilsson Schmilsson is one of the greatest albums ever made.
