If you put the aluminum foil on the outside, it’s even more efficient. The glass won’t be heated. You would need to tape it down though.

I could never do that where i live, magpies would fly into my window and then steal it 😂

Just use pure white curtains, they are much better because it reflects 80 to 90% of sunlight to keep the temperature down inside and there’s no need to put it outside. And keep in mind that you wouldn’t want the colour of your curtain to be any other colour besides white because it would absorb more sunlight and it will make things warmer instead so that is why you need it to be all pure white instead.

Thank you so much for that great tip. I live in the desert and the sun bakes the windows and I do not have A.C.

Use it with cardboard box. It will increase the R-value and insulate your house better.

it is because actually uv light is a radiation which bring the heat, while aluminium foil block uv light then no heat is transfered

Mylar (space blanket) is far more effective. You can tell how good a material is by placing an ice cube and the material in your hand. If it feels cold, its a bad insulator.
@rh.m6660
@rh.m6660 Ай бұрын
You're mistaking insulation with reflectivity. Reflection aids in reflecting radiation BEFORE it turns into heat. Insulation helps slow the rate of heat transfer.
@babelfishdude
@babelfishdude Ай бұрын
@@rh.m6660 Yeah, you can have both. Mylar is both and insulator and a reflector. Try it. Aluminum is only a reflector. Its actually the worst insulator. Emissive vs radiant vs contact heat. NASA didn't spend all that money on nothing. Its also cheaper than Aluminum if you have a local dollar store that sells emergency blankets.

thanks for saying that, I was wondering if it would leave some type of weird residue and then I'd have to try to scrape/clean that mess off. it does seem to help, but maybe stapling/gluing it to cardboard would be better?
