One of the reasons why I like watching you, is you are not afraid to talk about how you are learning all this somewhat as you go. I like watching people evolve in their methods for doing different things. I hope this does not insult, but watching new builders is like watching my two sons grow, and develop. It is interesting to see how you become more comfortable with certain things, you know when to ask for help, and you are very humble which is nice to see.

i love you bro! For a teenager who's interested in house build, I think you did a good job by saving more than 80% of the request amount by those contractor. When you do work yourself, you're not onlu save money but increase experience. Keep this build going and i fully support what you doing. wish i could provide help.😊😊

Dang, I WISH the kind of quotes I was getting for hiring people to help me renovate my A frame were that low..! 😅 but I guess most construction folks look at a widowed mom and think "easy prey"! DIY'ing as much as I can with ADHD and a 10yo to raise, but man it's rough going. You make it look easy and give me hope. Keep on with your awesome self!

i really admire your courage to tackle something that hasn't been what you normally did in your life. Great work! Also, you could build another custom A Frame, for the lady, on another lot, when you done with this one, just a thought! You would probably build another A Frame in half the time! Cost of the wall should include your time for labor too, every construction project cost, labor and materials, your absolutely worth more than nothing!

Good for you! That’s an awesome dream. So, I was told that I couldn’t build a house by myself by pretty much everyone that I knew. Almost on a daily basis someone was telling me how crazy I was. But every nail that went in and every wall that went up made me more right. Luckily, I’ve blessed to have a super supportive wife! So, that’s a big help. Let me be the first person to tell you that you can do it too, my good friend! 🙏👍

The router bit you had equipped didn’t look like the right kind for cutting out openings. They are called flush trim router bits. Much safer and easier to operate. Great job so far!

Have you considered lexan polycarbonate for windows? Lexan's website has a lot of information on their stuff for residential windows

You can get it in large sheets for pretty inexpensive, it's ballistic resistant and 250 times stronger than glass (well that's what their website says anyway 🤣)

Darryl, thank you very much for putting yourself up there on the fire line. I AM in The county of Riverside California and have a parcel of 11 acres of land where I want to build an A Frame home just like the one you are building. To do it right I have to get building permits and all…. I want to know if you have plans for your house and I you would sell them or how did you get them and how much did you spend on them. Perhaps you can answer and do a video about it. I need the plans soon so I can take them to the city. Thanks for taking time to answer!

So, I made the plans for the A frame. The house plan is not for sale currently. However, I’m sure you are going to find a way to crush your inspection & approval meeting with the county. Well I differ and this is my opinion. Mine. And it is not to bash anyone. 1 thing in your breakdown is that: You missing your man hours. Or the answer is skewed. And this is one of the reasons you pay contractors much more. If it is only building supplies you were comparing kudo's.

I hear you, Zianesh. And, thank you for offering your perspective. The contractors did tell me that they'd spend approximately 4-5 days building the walls for me. And, I probably spent about 8-9 days building the walls. So, does double the time equal double the money? I didn't think so. Plus, I think the experience that I got is invaluable. God bless, broski!

Sad to say... most contractors are overpriced!! When I was doing contracting work, my competitors would always complain that I was lowballing just to get the job. I would have to explain that I rather charge a fair wage and have a repeat customer than a 1-time customer.
