Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin addresses the current "perfect storm" of global economic crisis, and criticizes America's role in the financial downturn. "Today, investment banks, the pride of Wall Street, have virtually ceased to exist," he says.

-----
Klaus Schwab, Hans-Rudolf Merz and Vladimir Putin address the World Economic Forum in Davos. They then sit down for a discussion with Peter Brabeck-Letmathe, Michael S. Dell and Carlos Ghosn.
Prime Minister Vladimir Putin of the Russian Federation says his country will not be "isolationist and egotistic" in the face of unprecedented crisis.
He calls for international action to boost global energy security and for the state to stay out of business.
Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin was the second President of Russia and is the current Prime Minister of Russia as well as chairman of United Russia and Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Union of Russia and Belarus. He became acting President on 31 December 1999. In 2004, he was re-elected for a second term lasting until 7 May 2008.
Due to constitutionally mandated term limits, Putin was ineligible to run for a third consecutive Presidential term. After the victory of his successor, Dmitry Medvedev, in the 2008 presidential elections, he was then nominated by the latter to be Russia's Prime Minister; Putin took the post on 8 May 2008.

@NeoNeumonic That's because the man is a notoriously ruthless and unscrupulous character. He's also the best leader Russia has had since Peter the Great. He will do anything and everything to make his country strong and prosperous. No wonder so many Russians adore him.

@DmitryDaren and you should believe that it's good because there is no better as it is now. Russia is moving upwards right now. You should also compare the depts between russia and usa. you will see that all the money you are missing are probably holding the government debt down. Russia debt: 68.120.088.000 USA debt: 8.803.484.800.000 130 times bigger. what russia is probably doing all this time is what greece started to do a little while ago.

@DmitryDaren well, you should probably think what would russia be today if not putin but some other dude would be president. Putin succeeded by reaching the best outcome and raising the costs benefits russia a lot. Russia's situation is more than impossible. Putin somehow manages to improve all of it. I think there will be a economic boom in the next years and russia will go upwards. it's only a matter of time.

What is a "right-wing pats"? Where is the empire? We have territories whose people have the option of joining the States, but are not force to, but get benefits of being a part of us.

Russia is not doing "better" than the US or Europe by any standard, with perhaps the exception of the amount of debt owed by each. Look at the demographics... Russians live not nearly as long as Americans and Europeans, their total population is shrinking (like the Europeans)... there are quality of life issues to consider here, not merely hard economic balance sheets (and even in most of those cases, Europe and and the US are still doing better than Russia).

@mcexcrack He's of course better than Yeltsin, but that is only a game of bad cop- good cop. What has he done all these years of his power that saw gradual 9 times increase of oil prices?Where is all this huge money? Why it was not spend as it was being earned for science, industry, why did they stockpile it?- Because they wanted to steal it and they did so (spend for "supporting of out currency"). I would like to believe in good, but im realist and im out of Russia until there is a revolution.
