Russian industrial capacity is insufficient to sustain this war, as the majority or arms production have been refurbished irreplaceable Soviet stocks. while you for sure bring up some great points, I think from Ukraine's perspective: What's the use of hurting the domestic economy by pulling even more labor and consumers out of it to join the military if you're not even sure you can supply the recruits with gear. If the army doesn't have access to a steady and predictable supply of weapons and gear, you don't know if you can supply the front lines, let alone pull the equipment back to the rear to train new soldiers on--especially when the efficacy of training is largely dependent on scale. Training an equipped and united brigade together will have outsized impacts compared to training a brigade at the squad or platoon level without proper integration and the weapons and systems they will actually hit the battlefield with.

A Battalion has to have at least 2 companies so it could technically be pretty low, even 300. Generally a Battalion has roughly 1000 soldiers with 4 to 5 companies. Just saying losing a battalion a day is a bit vague.

I believe the Russian designation is BTG, or Battallion Tactical Group. Early in the war I believe they used to be 800 peeps. Most of those are probably busy bug geri ng the new arrivals or have bribed their way into hospital. So who knows... maybe 8 are left?
