Igor Korotchenko seemed to suggest that Russia plans to attack U.S. ships with nukes. He said Kazan wasn't the only one to arrive in Cuba, but there were a few Russian multipurpose nuclear subs in different parts of the Atlantic Ocean, carrying out their tasks. If Russia ever uses a nuclear weapon, it will not be on a freakin ship. The moment a country first uses a nuclear weapon in this day and age, the rest of the world will immediately be threaten so why use it on a ship? even if that ship contains nuclear weapons it still wouldn't make sense coz it just gives the allies a reason to launch counter nuclear attacks to mother country. What a dumb statement!

A lot of people don't know much stuff about their own navies. An aircraft carrier is very heavily armoured to withstand even sinking. So, yes, nuclear weapons would be necessary to do anything serious to this weapons platform.

US carriers do have US submarines underneath who watches Fleet, Only thing Russia can attack US carriers with submarines is; Sub get at water surface and unlished Missiles from distance , but US carriers and frigates do have antiair defenses who can shot down Russia's Subs missiles. There is not any Russians Subs who moves in the ocean US do not monitor and fallows. To destroy US carriers you need too many missiles and to be at least 5 miles range plus you need attack fighter planes to have a full success

You have to destroy the defense before you move your offense. Missles are vulnerable on their first stage of the flight. Just like car on their first gear, they are slow and that when anti missles comes in from the ship.
