Putin, Prigozhin speak out for the first time since Wagner revolt | DW News

Russian President Vladimir Putin has addressed his country, thanking citizens for their unity, following the aborted revolt by the Wagner mercenary group.
Putin said he would honor his promise to allow Wagner fighters to relocate to Belarus if they wanted - where Wagner's commander Yevgeny Prigozhin is believed to be in exile. Or Putin said soldiers could also sign a contract with the Russian Defense Ministry. He did not mention Prigozhin himself. Earlier the mercenary leader said his actions had highlighted weaknesses in Russia's security.
The man who launched an extraordinary revolt in Russia over the weekend and then suddenly called it off has spoken out. Yevgeny Prigozhin, leader of the Wagner mercenary group, released a defiant 11-minute audio message on Monday justifying his actions. In it, he said he wanted to protest the Russian government, not overthrow it, and that his actions had highlighted the weakness in Russia's security.

1 The first strategic plus, Wagner broke away from the Russian state, the new base in Belarus is located near the Polish border, if the F16 takes off from Poland, Prigozin can go crazy and destroy the Polish airport, Russia can say it's not with us, and Belarus not with us, and he went crazy again but don't react, we got nuclear weapons last week by accident, and we also got Wagner army 2, a strategic plus, Ukraine has a Wagner arm relatively close to the border, they can go crazy and attack Kiev, the Ukrainian army must be deployed to protect Kiev, distraction. 3 strategic plus in two days, a large army relocation, where is Wagner, where is Akhmat 4, a tactical plus is less important, picking mushrooms, the fifth column that has given out, they are going to Siberia. This is not Putin's character, and neither is Progozin, who is a long-time and loyal friend of Putin

If you were going to open another front from Belarus this is the quite literally the worst and most destructive way to do it. They could have just moved Wagner there in small packets, masking movement and build up. Instead they humiliate Putin, kill a load of pilots, and let the whole world know? Your theory makes zero sense. If they wanted the Ukrainians to know to draw forces away from elsewhere, just make a big song and dance about moving to Belarus....job done. Seriously, the mental gymnastics people are doing to try and find reason in an insane situation is getting absurd although I do understand, because none of what either Prigozhin or Putin did makes sense if you're not a Russian crime boss.

I don’t understand how this ‘Army’ runs operationally. Doesn’t it require a huge amount of fuel and supplies to drive a mechanised army of 25,000 men 600/700 km??? How are they feeding and resupplying if they had cut ties with the Russian Defence Ministry - I don’t understand how this is possible without their logistical support - if I’m asking an obvious question can someone please enlighten me 🤨

@@5888max I know and it’s frustrating . Even if they had got some supplies from that main logistics hub I can’t see how that would help them for long - how was he going to keep them supplied when they got close or closer to Moscow - he couldn’t of acted in the belief that somehow and somewhere enough fuel and food would arrive making them able to actually operate militarily. This so called insurrection or protest does not seem credible at all. I’m starting to think that Putin has orchestrated the whole thing making the Defence Ministry responsible for failing in Ukraine angering this mercenary army challenge their conduct of the war that has betrayed the Motherland and its young men who have been slaughtered in the thousands. It’s setting the stage for Putin to escape goat the Defence Ministry and tighten his grip on power allowing him to save face in front of the Russian people .

Bottom line is someone on the inside caved and didnt come through for Prighozin and when that became apparent what other play did he have? All about self preservation with that guy. Ideals of Glory and Country are tangential to the ultimate goal and the problem with Russia’s one person statehood for the last 20 years is that the vacuum of space underneath them gets bigger and bigger as they keep going. Russia is screwed in the long and short term. They’ve hemmed themselves in politically, they’ve shown they’re a paper tiger militarily and they don’t have any real prospect for the future. They’re quickly becoming just a more populated version of North Korea

On behalf of anti-Putin Russians, I would like to say that this military coup attempt was a most exciting event for the past couple of years, with a very disappointing final. Me and my friends were so happy about the fact that someone armed finally went against Putin, cos we are so sick of feeling helpless. We can't do anti-Putin politics in Russia because if you do, you'll be poisoned or convicted for at least 10 years. As civilians, we can't fight against the armed riot police with our bare hands. And on June 24th, Putin faced someone who posed a real threat to him. Not just a bunch of young people with anti-war posters on the streets, but one of the most skilled PMC. We are really convinced that Putin is about to leave Russia for Iran or North Korea with sh*ted pants, but in fact, it ends exactly as suddenly as it began. P.S. I will never refuse that fact: Prigozhin is a war criminal, and he deserves to be jailed for the rest of his life, just like Putin.
