"Unless Russia is can mobilise least another four or 500,000 people and have a third party supplier of weapons, they will not be able to do any major offensive operations in the future"
Russia's army could 'wither on the vine and die' if Ukraine is successful in cutting the land bridge to Crimea, Major General Chip Chapman tells Frontline on #timesradio .

@@cattymajiv What facts, that Ukraine has been shelling the dam, that they have been threatening since October of last year, that they had already cut off the water supply to Crimea and Donetsk once already, that they are desperate because their big offensive isn't going so well. When things start going south for Ukraine it always pulls off something ridiculous like this. that said, there are no facts either way, any speculation on what happened is just that, speculation. Destroying the dam could possibly cut off the water supply to Crimea *AGAIN,* now who do you suppose would benefit from this? btw, cutting off the water supply is a war crime and, like i pointed out earlier, Kiev did it to BOTH Crimea and Donetsk previously. But then there's this, "Kovalchuck considered flooding the river. The Ukrainians, he said, even conducted a test strike with a HIMARS launcher on one of the floodgates at the Nova Kakhovka dam, making three holes in the metal to see if the Dnieper's water could be raised enough to stymie Russian crossings but not flood nearby villages. *~The Washington Post*

Bucha never happened. They were bodies from the morgue that Ukrainians dragged into position. As for the dam, the Ukrainians fired missiles at it months ago. This is another example of premature blame being attributed to Russia, just like with the Kerch Bridge, Snake Island, Nordstream pipelines and missile attack on Poland incidents.

It screams desperation... He would not have resorted to such an outrageous action unless he truly felt he was vulnerable and likely to overun by Ukraines counteroffensive. This action PROVES beyond a shadow of a doubt that Putin, at least, believes he is losing and can be driven out of Ukraine. This is a desperate, last option like event. Unfortunately for him, it will not save him, only delays, yet strengthens ukraines position in the worlds view and solidifies their determination and resolve to never surrender, never relent. Come on just say NZ, who bothers some demanding Polynesians who went there few centuries before used an unspeakable name they want to push through nowadays. Not wanting to sound cynical, I'm merely curious: did they _build_ anything lasting? Europeans made NZ. Hard Truth to swallow. That's why _you_ are there, too. Doesn't mean our human worth is greater. It's simply facts: seeing the development that took place. Developmental stages. And a result of the knowledge a bunch of _diverse_ people [by the way as not all Westerners were ever “white“] found in Europe before it just so happened prior to it happening elsewhere. It had to start somewhere. Whilst our ancestors exported our current joint knowledge, not merely by killing or oppressing _as liberals cynically _*_love_*_ claiming..._ “Aotearoa“ existed at one point, no doubt. How can one [hypothetically united] country nowadays have two names? Devaluing its individuality by wanting to *please anyone resentful.* -New Zealand is what was established for a fresh stage jointly. ...Or maybe you just want to live back in jungle style? Then give up your comfort madame.😅 Prosper on in peace. And be grateful, also to your ancestors instead of Zeitgeist ruining legacy.

Excellent interview & discussion!👍I really appreciated Major General Chapman's emphasis on communicating a 'big picture' analysis/understanding of the familiar day-to-day events that Kate referenced in her questions. IMHO, it is much easier for the average person on the street to focus on weaponry, munitions, war-gaming stats & YT videos of skirmishes/battles than it is to look at well-established, overarching concepts about the importance of politics, psychology & economics in modern warfare. The same can be said regarding the myriad of paths any particular military conflict may take. Consequently, both Kate & the Major General did a real service by spending quality 30 minutes exploring the Russo-Ukraine War in ways that we tend not to see from mainstream media. 👍

IF it was Russia that destroyed the dam, it most certainly screams desperation. They spent more than a year building MASSIVE defensive structures/lines (trenches, setting mines, etc) in order to hold the greater Kherson area that they illegaly took (militarily), occupied, and then unfairly annexed. The after effects of blowing the dam saw the mines blowing or washing downstream. The Russians had to fall back up to a distance of nine miles, thereby losing the majority of their defensive line structures. So, now it appears that they are willing to do anything that they can to hold on to JUST Crimea, which at the start of the war they already held.

Ukraine had established bridgeheads on the left bank near Kherson. These were a real thorn in the side for Russia - because they couldn't move their reserves to help elsewhere. Ukraine also threatened (and have been bluffing for weeks) a major river crossing. And it shows how weak Russia regards its overall position that it needed to blow the dam to stop it. The water levels indicate "maximum" intent - whether they hoped to raise the river level consistently over many weeks, or do what we now see - to stop the threat. But what they have done does give Ukraine a huge opportunity and open window in maybe 4 or 5 weeks time.

Yeah, they totally did it, just like they blew their own Kerch bridge that they built, just like their nordstream pipeline, Kremlin? They did attack that as well oh yeah, and their civilians in Krasnodar & Belgorod, obviously it's work of Evil Putin! Get a grip on reality already, not a single person in power said that it was Russia, all they say "Russia is responsible for it" so when it will be proven that Ukraine did it, they can simply walk back their statement with "Russia is responsible because they started this war", which they didn't but yeah ok :)

The dam could not possibly have been damaged by rockets or artillery so please explain how the Ukrainians could have planted tons of explosives into the inside of the dam whilst the dam was under Russian control?. The Ukrainians could not possibly gain any advantage from blowing the dam. You may be surprised to learn that outside Russian propaganda nobody believes a word that the Russians claim.
