Putin 'unleashes surveillance' on mothers of soldiers opposing the war

MOTHERS and wives of Russian soldiers sent to fight the war in Ukraine have been speaking out against the conflict and appealed to Putin to get their loved ones back home to safety.
Council of Mothers and Wives is highlighting the appalling conditions under which conscripted Russian men are fighting, with little training, poor uniforms, useless weapons and absent commanders.
One woman claims that Putin is having her followed because of the criticism she voiced against the war, in an attempt to gag her.
A new law is reportedly supposed to come into effect this week. This law aimed at curbing criticisms would see the rounding up and arrest of distraught women opposing Putin’s war because their sons and husbands have been killed in Ukraine.

We (the Ukrainians) have seen a lot of those "russian mothers". Most of them have one thing in common. They are not embarrassed by the fact that their sons are waging a war of occupation against another nation. They have no remorse for the fact that their sons are killing innocent Ukrainians. If Russia wins the war and kills millions of Ukrainians, these mothers will be happy. They only start complaining and whining when they realize that the real war their son was involved in is not at all like what is shown on Russian TV. When they realize that their sons are being used as cannon fodder. But if everything went according to putin's plan, they would have no complaints.

It always seems the same too. The conscripts who mutiny against their command, it's either because they haven't been paid or because they don't feel adequatly equipt. Not because they don't want to be there, or they feel it's wrong. For the right money and if they feel they could kill effectively enough they would have no problem. The Russians are different. Their leaders have had their boot on their necks for generations, they don't know anything else than following their 'leaders' orders.

The Grandmothers of Argentina brought down their military government. Would not stop asking, insisting, on finding out where their grandchildren (democracy activists) had gone. Led to huge movement to get rid of their cruel Colonels. Most were dead. So many were being killed that the bodies became a problem. People were drugged until barely able to walk, pushed into cargo planes, and when the planes were flying over the ocean the people were pushed out. Babies were taken away and given to "good conservative Catholic families". Dictators have no hearts. Only bank accounts.

This is, indeed, a common perception of the "mute" protest of russian women. However what people living outside this country miss is that this is actually the only way to oppose the war (indirectly though) without getting behind bars. Yes, it's quite likely some of these women don't war to be ended and others are just to scared to say something bolder. However you can't expect other people to be brave, especially if you're safe. 20 years of Putin's rule continuously made Russians depoliticized and not willing to participate in politics...one of the ways to achieve that is to keep people poor enough that they only care about making two ends meet.

Those mothers got what they deserve. They knew where they sent their sons and husbands and for what. In CIS region (not sure about russia, usually they celebrating, but not remember what), we all have a day to remember (one more time, remember, not celebrate) what is happened in WW2 and in Afghanistan not so long ago, those mothers are also knew the history. But they thought that their sons will give them new victories, victoriously killing Ukrainians, oppressing them, and teaching them "russian peace", making dirty money to buy them a new apartment or receive a plot of land near the sea. Not to mention, many are from poor rural areas, so of course their sons go to fight just for some money to help their families. Putin never pays what he promises either. He is liar through and through. Please remember, a majority of the Russian people aren’t the government. There is a very, very long history of propaganda and brain washing. In my opinion, real love is when you love yourself and other living beings (human, animals, plants and the earth) enough to stand against Fascism, refuse to take up arms, invade another country and kill people just because you are told to or threatened using control and fear tactics of a dictator. If every man and woman in Russia decided they would not go and invade, rape, bomb, kill Ukrainians there would be no war right now. Putin cannot jail all the people in Russia, where would he put them all? These mothers had a chance to teach their sons better. Only the people as a collective can put a stop to this and overthrow their Fascist leader and government. They are not doing this. Some are fleeing/hiding, out of fear for their own lives, some, like these mothers are speaking out of fear for their sons lives, but very few are opposing the war itself, the invasion, rape, killing of innocent Ukrainian civilians. Some will not even admit it's happening and others revel in the rape and genocide of innocent Ukrainians (as is evident in intercepted calls between Russian mothers/girlfriends and their sons/husbands) They have been brainwashed by their Government and are controlled by manipulation, fear and control. I disagree with your statement that they "are not in this alone." They are, because they allowed it to happen. The entire world is not standing behind these Russian mothers in solidarity. Anyone with integrity is standing behind Ukraine and it's defense against an invasion that should never have happened in the first place and standing for democracy in the free world.

But we can throw out logic when avarice, and greed are involved with Vlad the MURDERER. People outside of Russia cannot imagine how hard this will be to have so many men gone for no good reason, and families will suffer immensely. The state will not provide much if anything, as we see even now a relatively small equivalent of $5000 payed to those on the front lines, yeah it's a years salary but, if they take 40+ years away from a family then what good is it?

"Bring my son back". Why not to say, "dear president stop the war so our sons will not go to Ukraine and die verry soon. No one can give good futur for our grand children". They are just begging for their own good.

Do not put the blame on them. They cannot say stop the war. You know what it might happen to these poor mothers : prison or « accidental » death.

In fact, it's great that all this is happening to them now. russians fully deserved all the suffering that they now have to endure. Maybe, at least now they will understand what a mistake they made by choosing this creature named putler as their president and not throwing him out of power when it could still be done. All russians must suffer for all the troubles they brought to Ukraine, Georgia, Chechnya, Syria, other countries and for not paying attention to the wars unleashed by russia until this war touched them.

@Stormtrooper Russians did a great job carpet bombing Aleppo. They love attacking those who can't fight back. 😆

Very sad for the Ukrainian warriors who did not make it. My sympathy is with the Ukrainian defenders. The Russian soldiers should turn against the kremlin they are being used as cannon fodder. All for putin who said himself russia has lost nothing.... get putin out Slava Ukraini from 🇬🇧

@@paulgibbon5991 oh I can't begin to imagine. Their suffering has to be unbearable. my point wasn't to lessen their loss and grief, it was to simply point out that as a Mother or wife, most had ZERO say in any of this, they don't support this vileness but they don't have freedom to even think for themselves much less know the truth and take a stand against it. I cannot imagine. At what point will it be enough for the people of Russia to say no more. Either way this 'man' and his greedy, evil heart has ripped many children from their Parents arms, husband's and wives apart.. I can't imagine the pain of anyone suffering. So many at his mercy it's sickening.

Well, it's sad but they are appealing now because Ukraine is delivering their sons now in plastic bags. Imagine them Initially approving this senseless attack on a sovereign country unprovoked.

Not one word about the plight of the Ukrainians they've attacked without justification or mercy just 'woe is me, woe is me, take someone else's kid'. Nothing regarding the war itself almost as if the war itself is ok as long as you don't take MY kid.
