Its a bit more complicated on the 2013 and up Deluxe model. The job of changing the handlebars is much easier if you take batwing fairing off as it is bolted to the handlebars and also covers the handlebar clamp bolts.

Thanks for the video i think i will do this i have a 09 and bars hit my knee at full lock. Anything I should know i see information in the writing.

You have to replace the grips if you use the bars in the video. The ends of these bars are hollow. Can’t use factory grips.

Hi - I'm getting ready to put RSTD bars on my 1300. This will be the first time I've changed bars. Your video will prove invaluable. Thanks! A couple questions. Did you glue the clutch-side grip? If so, what glue did you use and can you offer any suggestions/precautions/technique for applying the glue? Also, should I presume that no glue was needed for the grip on the throttle side? Thanks again!

Hey NF 👋 I did use glue on the clutch side however, it has been awhile since I did this and I don’t remember which glue I used. (I think the grips came with a small tube) As for applying glue, I would say watch a couple vids specifically on that subject because I honestly don’t remember how I applied it and don’t want to give you bad/unsafe advice. (I watched several videos beforehand myself) Lastly, you are correct. The throttle side does not require glue. Sorry I couldn’t be more helpful but you’ll get there. Stay safe and enjoy the ride.

What kind of comfort did you find with the RSTD bars? im looking to change mine from stock to.

It was a huge difference! I can now turn without hitting my knees and I am able to sit up much straighter. The results will be slightly different for each rider as we are all different sizes. My back still gets to burning after a long ride but I also have a few “issues” with my back. That being said, it is easily one of the BEST upgrades I’ve done so far.

As long as they are the stock cables. They should go right back where they were.

I have seen that some people have had too. Maybe they already had shorter cables or maybe there is another set of RSTD bars with slightly different dimensions than the set I used. As long as you have stock cables and the same set of RSTD bars that I used, you should be fine. (check the video description for the exact part number)
