Dear Mr. Gambill, we are sorry that our cleaning video did not satisfy your expectation of a safe hopper cleaning. Indeed there are many different ways of cleaning, nearly every operator has an own detail in the whole process. There are some really dangerous cleaning methods which can still be seen in the market: cleaning with open hopper and running pump (not possible on current Putzmeister machines), putting hands into the bottom outlet of the hopper when the pump is running. Putting hands into the S-tube outlet during pump running is also not really advisable. In this point you are right. But there is no danger because of moving parts. Due to the S-tube length the cutting point between spectacle plate and S-tube is far away. There is a risk of cutting the water hose but the position of the water hose resp. the hands of the operator in the cleaning video is far away from this point. We promise to show the S-tube cleaning even more perfect in a new cleaning video in the future. Thank you.

It is not possible to be too far into the s-valve with the arm so that you get hurt by the switch over. But we will of course consider this aspect in our next video to avoid any misunderstanding.
