This is a basic - easy to build - pvc cockpit that I designed having in mind to manage a slightly inclined sport driving position and keeping it as simple as possible.
There is an ability to move the seat back & forward and rotation of the steering wheel to achieve a better possible accommodation.
It suits perfect to the Fanatec Clubsport gear and a rider of 1,85m tall, but shorter or taller riders could also be accommodated quite well. The same applies to steering wheels of other companies as DFGT or G27 for example.
As a bonus I managed to include in this design the ability to fold and occupy a much less place in case of storage.
The PVC tubes I used for this design have a diameter of 50mm and their shapes and forms can be seen in the video.

Is it possible to get your 3 monitors stand setup like you have done with this one please... i will donate for sure when i'll built it and i'm pretty sure my friends will do the same. there should be a way to fold it one back and one forward ( and keep it serurely balanced ) if we need to... Great work by the way! your setup is simple basic and awsome!

This is a really nice setup! I'm actually going to use this one since it can be easily moved and folded for storage! A question though on how sturdy the steering wheel base mount since its not connected in the center? that's about my only question I have about this design.

Hi, just discovered the channel, you're really doing a great job ! This design is very clever, the ability to fold it is awesome. I love it, although I won't make that one since I need to be able to use my rig as my regular work desk also (I have a very limited amount of space and basically need to stuck everything in a 90cm wide space between a bed and a wall). But it's inspiring, there's several good ideas that can be applied to another design :) A question I'd like to ask : - I want to put my PC and console behind the screen, above the pedals. Would you suggest a monitor support directly built onto the cockpit structure, or still go with a separate monitor stand ? Also, two features I'd really like to have, if you have some thoughts on that I'll happily give them a read : - A keyboard support that would slide under the steering wheel base to keep keyboard in front of me when not driving and slide it off the way when racing. - Being able to get the steering wheel out of sight when working would be nice also, but I think you'd have to make it slide towards the screen, then rotate it 90° to give enough clearance to your legs.
@ArisTeidis

+GT-Alex Hello Alex and thank you for your comments! I think you should build the PVC Cockpit 45 (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gJh_oc16r760e6s.html) the first and the second stage and use your desk as a wheel and monitor holder (stand) see my video at 0:27. If you have a DFGT or a G25/27 you can easily detach it and use your desk to work. You should also use the car seat (stage 1) as a working seat - you don't have to move it!
@gt4lex
@gt4lex 8 жыл бұрын
Problem is I don't have a desk and not enough room to put one in that space. I currently use what is basically a cube made with 5 mdf panels which I made when I was 13, so over a decade of use now. I never put metal reinforcments so the thing twists and corners and borders are cracked, so althoug I guess I could just get the bottom and rear parts out and use them to cut the seat, pedal and wheel bases, I'd still like to get rid of that ugly thing :P But staying in the car seat all day is the idea, I got myself a nice RX-8 seat with rails for that matter :) Also, I have both a DFGT and a T500RS which was given to me, but I have to repair the pedals or replace them. Also, the T500 is one of the reasons I want to build a PVC rig because I really fear mu current setup wouldn't hold up to that beast and my driving style :) But yeah, the 45 definitely looks like a great basis to work on ;)
@ArisTeidis
@ArisTeidis 8 жыл бұрын
+GT-Alex So, you have two options (in case your Diy desk is wider than 1 meter): To reinforce your cube, make it a stable desk and use it with cockpit 45 - stage 1&2, or proceed to stage 3 and make a complete cockpit - using planks from your cube but in that case you will have to make compromises what concerns using your cockpit as an working desk. Cockpit 45 is capable of holding a monitor or even a big tv and detaching the wheel you could use the surface to place a keyboard but I haven't predict a good place for the mouse. You may need to improvise. I also use my cockpit as a desk but mainly for web surfing. Working there is not comfortable.

Hi Aristotle, I am 6 feet (1,85m) tall. Have a look at the next photo: img4.hostingpics.net/pics/381211PVCcockpit38InvertedG272.jpg You could build the cockpit in two parts, as seen in the photo so you could - before you glue them - to check if it fits you. In case the cockpit is too high you can shorten a little the green tubes. Cut the green tubes a little longer than I show in the construction guide in case the cockpit feels too short for you. Also you can mount the pedals further or nearer to you.

+cottojn Hello, I suppose the main reason that you are facing this discrepancy about the length of the PVC tubes is that you don't use the right type! The ones I recommend for the construction are called UPVC or PVC high presure pipes like these: www.alibaba.com/product-detail/high-pressure-110mm-upvc-plastic-pipe_60018598859.html

@ArisTeidis 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Jason, the most determinant fact would be the transportation costs as they could make this operation prohibitive. Give me some time to figure this out. Send me, please, your e-mail to teidisaris@gmail.com Adding a good car chair to a cockpit gives enormous comfort to resist many hours of sim driving. How long? This is something depends on you (physical condition, age, etc.) If you are looking for more comfort you should consider a more versatile model like PVC Cockpit 51 (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/b72Dn5N2p52uj6s.html) where you can adjust anything you wish to your likes.

I'm thinking a way to help you: measure the size (in detail) of the PVC joints that you bought and send it to me. I will try to resize the length of the tubes according to the sizes you will send me. A very important thing also is to measure the length of the tube which slips into the PVC joint. For the uPVC that I use is 3cm!
