PV Stop

PV Stop

8 жыл бұрын

PVStop is a "Liquid Tarp" that shuts down solar panels in seconds. This world first innovation is the only way to shut down panels at the source, even when exposed to light.
PVStop is non-flammable, fire retardant and shuts down solar PV systems in seconds without causing any damage to the solar panel system. When you wish to re-activate the solar panel system, simply peel off the coating to resume normal system operation.

A great idea especially for fire crews responding to structure fires with PV systems in place. We may not always be able to access the circuit breakers.

It is an interesting Idea though, it would be better, simpler and cheaper to install circuit breakers. It would be far more dangerous to be walking around the roof trying to pull off the dried PVStop material. When you have a new solar power system installed the installer has to by law(in this country) install circuit breakers, for safety. Someone who has 40 years experience should already know that.

I'm sure luke is well aware of rules as he helped CEC write them. Solar panels do not stop production unless the cells are covered.

A simple Pv conductivity switch would prevent panel output from entering system and damaging battery, scc, etc. The pv stop would be a last ditch effort prior to removal and replacement of damaged panels. I'm thinking wouldnt a plastic vynil panel shield panels from hail while allowing ample solar

@@Ruminations1from2Connecticut Isolation switches (which are mandatory) stop electricity "downstream" of the switch. "Upstream" of the switch (the panels and wiring leading from the panels) continue to produce electricity as long as the panels are exposed to light. A plastic vinyl shield would significantly decrease panel efficiency (which is why there are no plastic vinyl shield type products on the market).

@@foranjim with advent of uv panels maybe they could come out with a dual sun/night panel that is less wattage but overall peaks batteries

Safer less current. Maybe an override for solar if short circuit.
